Can I carry my Amazon Packed Receiver in my Check-in Luggage?

Isnt the Customs Limit 25k?

I have also been hearing that the limit has been increased to 35K but the Custom site still says 25K..but may be the site has not been updated ..does anyone have any source/links etc that confirms the increase in limit. I am leaving for US next week and want to have the right info before i buy something.

In case you didn't know, a good thing I discovered is : "7. Incase the value of one item exceeds the duty free allowance, the duty shall be calculated only on the excess of such amount."

@AVink, i did not pay any customs duty. It also helped that there were lot of folks who were bringing TVs from Dubai. BTW, I brought a projector also with me in the carryon luggage. They scanned it at arrival and let me go. They asked about Gold, not ptojector
