I'm not sure how this is going to affect chennai HFV meet, i think its a group effort and does not depend on any individual.

Just noticed that one of the organizers, Musicmaya, for the HFV meet - Chennai chapter has been banned!!! Are we still going ahead with the meet or not?

Help! I can't get past post #183, p.4 on this thread. Had this happen to me on another forum and clearing cache and cookies was the fix. It isn't working for me here at the moment.

Yes, your post is right after that one referred. BTW, my previous post was in page 5 (I have a setting of 50 posts per page) but it now got shifted to page 4.

Another thing is, page 5 is not showing up. Don't know what is happening. I think it is because some posts have been deleted.

A small suggestion, can we add one regional song from Tamil & Malayalam to be played in the meet apart from English songs.

Just checked my account. Fourteen payments in respect of 15 members have been credited. Of these, payments from some members have been received but since they are not matching with the forum handles, I'm unable to correlate but have done some calculated guessing. Hope I'm right.

We switched to view mode as someone played a prank and deleted some content. Confirmations can be made in the thread itself. I'll update the Google sheet after verifying. Hope that is ok.

Hi Srini, I suggested English tracks as we may get members from different parts of country. Jazz track has predominantly mid range content, even the second track also is the same. I would've suggested a heavy metal track for rock music but unless you listen to it on a warm and laid back speaker, it would be very fatiguing, aurally speaking. I suggested Westen Classical number because it gives us an indication of the sound stage and dynamic range of the speaker like no one else.

However, suggestions are welcome. In fact more people must make suggestions; we can then pick and choose.

If you place your cursor on the figure '5' at the boxes depicting page Nos., a box would display the post numbers being displayed on that particular page. This would be 192nd post but the box would be displayed saying "Show results 201 to 212 of 212"

@Mods: Please, can we not delete posts when a member is banned? Thread lose continuity and also knowledge(in many cases) is lost. If I remember right, the rules were also amended a while ago wherein it was explicitly mentioned that the posts were the property of Hifivision.

I spoke to few members who were attending the meet and they are quiet happy and interested in adding regional songs and what songs I suggested were of my choice and further members can chip in with their suggestion.

My way of thinking is most of the members except few ( Like you) will be hearing regional songs too, so it will be nice to hear how the songs performed in different systems which is quiet familiar for them. I am also in the same gang of hearing regional songs

There are hundreds of beautiful songs in Tamil. I can add two more songs that are simply superb.

One is Nadhiye Nadhiye from Rhythm. The soundstage in this song is superb. In a good system, the droplets of water should make you wipe your face.

The other is Ennevala Adi Ennavale from Kadhalan. A lovey song that has been rendered wonderfully by Unni.

All the songs from Sankarabaran are superb. Only issue will be to get a good quality recording. Try this song.

Let me add a few more in the evening after checking my database.

Guys, may I suggest that you make one CD with say 10 songs of various genres and add a regional track or two. Just ensure the recording is good. The same CD can be played on all systems so we have a reference. This will save time changing CDs, deciding which CDs to play next etc. The single CD idea was suggested by Sridhar (Odyssey) it worked very well for us at the Bangalore Hi-Fi Meet.

Well, content-wise, I would vote for local classical music because this is the music that I mostly listen to, but I have doubts that I can find a CD that will challenge an audio system to do other than display its flaws.

Mind you, almost all of my carnatic listening, these days, is live. At home I listen to other genres.

I don't much mind, personally, if the music I hear is in German, Telugu, French, Tamil, Italian, Malayalee, English, Hindi, Sanskrit or even good old etc! I don't understand any of them.

Oh, wait... I understand a bit of one of them hyeah:
