Chennai hfv meet- 29th january 2012

The three organisers met up to discuss the agenda for the meet yesterday evening. Now don't call us 'The three musketeers"

Here is what we propose:-

1. Wholesome Acoustic reproduction, a fresh perspective - A presentation by the main sponsor Acoustic Portrait, a Bangalore based Audio equipment company using their audio equipment viz DAC, Tube Preamplifier and Solid state Power Amplifier and mini monitor speakers.

2. Digital storage options - Media centres.

3. Legal downloads.

4. A comparison of Open Baffle vs Box speakers.

5. Comparison of Amplifiers, Speakers and Cables.

6. Basic Acoustic principles.

7. Acoustic testing equipment.
- Directional mikes for signal generators.
- Real-time analysers.

8. Power conditioners.

9. Showcasing "Beam Steering Speakers"

We intend to make use of three numbers, one from each genre.

1. Jazz - Renaissance by Ben Webster
2. Rock - Private Investigations by Dire Straits
3. Western Classical - To be decided

Since we need to pay the Hotel upfront, we propose to start collecting the share from all the participants from today. I'd send out the account details by Email and SMS to all those who have confirmed by sending me a mail/PM giving me their mail id.

Now I leave the forum open for suggestions.

Since this is only a draft agenda and subject to suggestions from members, we've not allotted any time slots. It would be finalised after incorporating changes if any.

Hi guys,

Sent account details by Email and account No by SMS. The amount that we are collecting is Rs. 400/- which includes Hall rent, food and two times Hi tea (tea/coffee cookies and refreshments) plus incidental charges towards tips etc. We have arranged for commercial sponsors to partly fund the meet. Any surpluses thus generated would be refunded to participants at the end of the meet.

No worries guys, an agenda with time slots will help members especially since it is a Sunday . I am more keen to know what I will miss since I might arrive late only at 11.30 from Bangalore.

Another observation is that there are too many agenda items to fit in one day (10AM to 5PM ie., ~5 hours excluding breaks) . I may be wrong though. Just my two cents .
