BTW, good news for all. In all probability, Acoustic Portrait would formally introduce their Pre and Power amps and their tube DAC in the meet. We are in talks with them to part sponsor the meet.

Booked tickets, so don't change the date now ;). I will be reaching Chennai only at 11AM (by Shatabdi) and return by the late night Mercedes Benz double axle bus (was always wanting to try the double-axle bus :D).

I'm awaiting updates from Musicmaya. He promised to get back today. Hope he will respond by evening.

Edit: Musicmaya has managed to rope in the AV expert that he had promised and the event has been finalised;

FMs Srinisundar, Mikehcm and Self visited the Hotel and decided on the venue.

The HFV Chennai meet would be held on 29th January 2012 at Hotel Gautam Manor on Nungambakkam High Road (NH Road) close to the junction where Village Road (that connects NH Road to Valluvarkottam) meets NH Road from 1000 hours to 1800 hours.

The hall charges including the food are Rs. 350/- with a minumum guarantee of 20 pax; so it works out to Rs. 7000/- which is the amount that would be charged irrespective of the number of attendees below 20.

We are proposing to collect Rs. 400/- per head including Rs. 50/- as incidental expenses (towards tips etc.)

We are trying to rope in some sponsor so that the figure comes down. We are in talks with a few dealers and details would be made known as soon as things are finalised.

Kindly note that if the final number of participants falls below 20, the cost per person goes up.

We propose to start a session with the expert's guest lecture.

Afternoon would be dedicated for listening of systems at different price points. Our Bangalore brethren have composed a CD for Bangalore meet, which we hope to borrow. Also, Mr. Shiva, the owner of Acoustic Portrait would be most likely show casing his latest Pre & Power amplifiers and also the DAC.

Guys can chip in with their ideas.

Also, just a suggestion that members please don't share your phone numbers on a public google spreadsheet. If you need this information, it can be collated by one of the organizer over PM. For the Bangalore Hi-Fi meet, we used email addresses for mass comms.

If you require the CD that was used in Bangalore Hi-Fi Meet, I can courier it or get it to the meet (I will reach the venue only around 11.30 though)

Regarding phone numbers you can see i have requested to PM only to Capt. so let it be one source of contact and google sheet can contain only e-mail and other details.:)

If we can get the event sponsored either fully or partly, the leftover amount would be returned to the contributors equally.:)

I'm given to understand that we may rope in some journalists to cover the event and even that entails some expenses

Hey guys, an update, Mr. Siva, owner of Acoustic Portrait brand has confirmed to be present and also part sponsor the meet.

Since he is reaching the previous day and returning the same day, has asked for the morning slot.

I'm sending them emails on the mail ids provided and PMs to those whose mail ids are not provided on the Google Excel sheet.

Do PM / Mail me giving out your contact details which would be taken as your confirmation for participating the meet. I have the numbers of only Srinisundar, Musicmaya, Mikehcm, Bottle, Murali_n, Madbullram, VenkatCR, Hifipall4all, Santhosh.

Others can mail / PM me their email & mobile numbers.

Edit: Since the thread was started a while ago & I'm not sure if all of them would be interested in attending the meet, I have communicated to all those who are listed on the Google Excel sheet via email / PM requesting them to send in their mail ids/ mobile numbers which would be taken as their confirmation for attending the meet. Hope to get replies of confirmation ASAP

Thanks for all the work in bringing this together.

I think it is too late to suggest further items for this time, but, for some time in the future, a headphone comparison session would be useful to some of us. Easy item to carry too :)
