Hi Guys,

It's 3 months now since I have been waiting for new TV releases. Today I visited nearest TV store to check new models from LG & Sony.

I found these 2 MODELS suits my budget and requirements.. Friends please suggest me right one

LG 42LA6910 (OR) SONY 42W800

They both have good Picture Quality.

Things i like about LG:
Amazing 3D experience (2D to 3D works great)
Good 2D Picture Quality
Great Sound with a Sub woofer
Nice Design
Magic Motion Remote
Dual core, Voice Commands
Time Machine - to record Live TV
Miracast, MHL, TAG ON

Things I don't like about LG:
Screen brightness is not up to the mark.. looks little dull.
Sales man tried to increase brightness but he couldn't, not even in custom mode. (Is it possible?)

Things i like about Sony:
Looks great
Amazing 2D Picture Quality
Passive 3D

Things I don't like about SONY:
User Interface is not great.. (But improved than Last year model's)
Old style box.. REMOTE Control
3D Depth.. (Disappointed)

Overall LG looks great to me except screen looks little dull (Less Brightness)
Please help me to choose right TV friends.. thanks for all your time.

I'm exactly in the same dilemma. Demoed W802 and LM7600 for 5 minutes.

I asked the reviewer
which is better among W802A, LM7600 & LA7400 for the below categories

1) Sharper picture in 3D (Since Passive 3D causes horizontal lines
visible, which among these TVs best preserves the horizontal resolution)

2) Black Level (With obviously contrasting white level)

Price I got for these TVs in India

LG 47LA6910 1,05,000 INR
LG 47LM7600 1,07,000 INR
Sony 47W800 99,000 INR
I got this reply

Unless you're watching a 3D movie really close to the screen, you shouldn't notice any horizontal lines. With that said, LG's 3D quality is top-notch. And while LG panels are typically super-bright, the LM7600 tested with a fantastic black level.

And for me still PLASMAs are in consideration though they have poor brightness comparatively and 3D is active as supposed to the comfortable and cheap passive 3D. Because of the superior black level and color performance along with an outstanding price per inch ratio

 For a second there, I thought you were telling the truth

What makes you think I'm not ? I visit all major AV related forums and nowhere is there positive feedback on 2013 LG sets. The same old problems from 2012 sets still remain.

And you can check posts in this forum where members have demoed Lg 2013 sets and W800 sets and believe W800 is clearly superior.

Reg. brightness:
remember that your home/room would not be as bright as the showroom. So what may appear as slightly dull/washed-out would be much more brighter in the home/room.

Thanks for all your replies..
I visited TV store 2days ago and demoed these two models again.

Sony really stands out in terms of 2D PQ (Thats' all)
3D was very disappointing, i had them convert 2D to 3D (Pathetic)

LG is looks great to me with so many smart features.
Picture Quality is not as bad as i thought, its decent.. well its better than last year model LM 6200 (OR) LM6410.

Sound quality is good.
3D is awesome, 2D to 3D unbelievable.

Will i be able to play PS4 or XBOX Infinite on LG?
Heard but not sure, LG has Lag issues on games. (IS IT TRUE)?

HERE IS A VIDEO REVIEW ON LG LA6910:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GbYD26BC3M

If i Buy SONY i will be missing some features like VOICE COMMANDS, Magic motion remote which will be handy to browse and watch video's, etc.

I will be buying one of these models in next two days and but im still confused..

IS IT WORTH BUYING TV FROM LG?

Your inputs will be much appreciated.

Thanks..

Shrey,

If prices are similar then go for the one that has better picture quality. You'll get weary of the smart features. They are slow and die unexpectedly. It's just not that useful as advertised. Hook up your laptop (assuming you have one) to TV and get a wireless keyboard and mouse. You'll be far better off than the smart features.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your reply..YEs prices are similar.
Your are right.. only thing which bothers me is 2D PQ but apart from that everything looks good on LG.

My cousin has a Samsung tv and i was trying to play some videos and browse some websites, and boy it was a headache.. that's the only reason i don't want to go with SONY or any 2012 lineup TV's which has similar browsing experience.

The best smart tv seamlessly works with your smart phone.
For example I downloaded some android streaming apps onto my galaxy note 2.
I can stream content from many online services with just one click on my phone to my panasonic tv wirelessly. Dont need to tweak anything in the tv.
Consider a sony hx850. I am still trying to get the same experience. Most of the times it does not play. To start the dlna service itself is a pain. Most of the times the phone should be made to scan for the tv and it finds it only 1 in 5 times.

Did you demo the 42 inch 2013 led model from panny? It was awarded a 5 star on whathifi.
