Confused between LG 42LA 6910 & Sony 42W 800

OK guys thanks for all your suggestions..
Today i auditioned these two models again.
LG LA6910 2D PQ was not up-to the mark, i asked salesman then he changed few setting.. after that it looked very pleasing to my eye's.

2D PQ was almost equal to SONY.

Yes, LG 2012 models were pathetic in 2D but surprisingly this year models looking very good.

2D to 3D in SONY is waste of time.. In LG 3D and 2D to 3D great:)
One thing i hate about SONY is keyboard.. If i had to browse websites or watch YouTube videos then its a hassle tying all that on remote.
Sales man said i can't connect wireless keyboard to SONY, is it true?

I think SONY W800 will be a big flop, sales will defiantly drop because of its 3D and no smart features. PQ is good but not as great as HX850 OR HX950. (Personal opinion, didn't mean to hurt SONY fans.. i love SONY too)

Tomorrow i am going to buy one of these.. mostly LG, which looks really good on paper.

I went to reliance digital today(at another location)...unfortunately they didn't had LG for the demo.

Anyways I was always preferring Sony from the beginning. So, finally I have bought Sony KDL-42W800. Getting it delivered tomorrow and installation not possible until I'm free from my office. Can't wait for it to be setup.

Can anyone please suggest me which DTH service provides better?
Airtel Digital TV sales person was in the store at the time, after checking for all the channels I require the package totals at 7000/Year(Provided with 15 HD Channels).

I'm completely noob when it comes to DTH services. Please please suggest me some more DTH services.

Thanks.

You can take AIRTEL with your eyes closed (PERIOD):ohyeah:
If budget permits then go for HD-DVR

Ya looks like I'll go with that one. That 7k above includes the STB of 3k. So it's just 4K/year. I'm not sure if DVR is required as of now.
Thanks.

As you spent so much on TV, its totally worth taking a HD DVR.. Trust me it will change your TV viewing experience. So is your TV installed?:licklips:

haha not yet.....It's right next to me...delivered in the evening while I was at work.
Will leave the unpacking stuff to professionals :) ... still can't wait seeing it in cozy box. It's tempting...though i'll have to wait :(

Sony has provided the new youtube interface like the one I have in my panny.
I tested the interface on hx850 with my smart phone.
You can have a low end android smartphone to sync with the tv and youtube. Its as simple as scanning a code displayed by the tv when you open the youtube interface.
Once you scan the code on tv with your android phone, youtube will pair the sony tv and your phone. Now you can type a video on the mobile and youtube plays it on your tv.
You don't need a keyboard for that.
So, that need not be your concern. Such features are enough to make sony a smart tv. I don't think you meant gesture controls when you said sony 800 will be a flop because it does not have smart features. Right?

Regarding PQ I don't know how one can change a couple of settings and make a picture improve to make lg look like sony!!!
Anyways. I think your requirement is 2d to 3d and that might have been the game changer for you.
And by the way sony 800 may not be a flop because it couldn't do a 2d to 3d conversion better. I think it fairly does the job of an excellant display.
I am eager to take a demo of la6910 and see what is really so great about it.

Best Regards.

Pls don't be deceived by LG. It looks good on showroom floors. Not that they are horrible but for the money you can get better without sweating much.

If by changing few settings equate sony's pic quality..sony would have stopped making tvs years ago...

Guys i didn't mean SONY is not good or LG is better than SONY .. LG is not bad in PQ.
If i had to choose SONY then i would rather choose Samsung over SONY.
I didn't consider Samsung coz it uses uses Active 3D. That's all.

Samsung, LG, Panasonic are using revised remote control's, voice and gesture controls. Im not saying they are important than 2D PQ but its always handy have these features.

If you compare SONY with SAMSUNG, its obvious SONY looks good.
Coz they are good at 2D PQ. So as long as we compare SONY with other TV's..we can never consider other brands.

Hi Shrey,
I agree that with this set LG has done really well with all the features and PQ.
Were you able to demo any sports channel while you were at the store? As I already mentioned I was able to see the blur effect on HD sports channel and also color peeling. Pity that I was not given a remote to play around with settings on LG.
So by changing settings if you can make these defects disappear then you should go with LG as you are more interested in 3D & 2D to 3D.

Yes.. i noticed blur on HD sports Channel too..
I asked salesman and immediately he changed PICTURE MOTION SETTING then it was gone.

LG SCREEN was not bright and it looked like 2012 LG Models.. When i asked salesman, he said it is in power saving mode and when he turn it off, PQ was fairly bright as SONY and Samsung.

I watched cricket on LG had them convert 2D to 3D, boy i was very impressed.:ohyeah:

Im not after smart features like NFC, TIME MACHINE, MHL, VOICE COMMANDS OR ANY APPS.. because i am taking a 3D TV i want to make sure that 3D is good too. Specially 2D to 3D so whenever i watch a HD MOVIE i can easily convert and watch them on TV.

Yes i love magic motion remote or Samsung's remote which makes more sense having a Smart TV.

I have a 4 years old son and he loves 3D.. it will be handy to convert HD animated movies.:D

About Youtube or Browsing website my family don't have to go to a computer.

SONY PQ looked fluid..very smooth.

As the saying goes ... Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. If you like LG over Sony, then go for it. Or vice versa. Everyone will have individual likes and tastes.

My TV got setup yesterday evening. The W800is simply awesome. I didnt do any changes to settings. Watching it out of the box without any problem. Just cant stop watching.

Plugged in my 2TB External HDD whch have about 20 1080p movies, playing them without any problem. Even 720 and regular standard movies are amazing to watch on it. Superb smoothness, crispnesss and colors. Perfect for me.
3D is same as in LG.

Except 2D to 3D is really bad.
Anyways no regrets for me as I'm gonna get all the 3D movies in 1080p.

Shrey,
I would suggest you to get LG for better 2D to 3D.
For me I dont need advance features or apps, I was looking for a TV not a PC :-)

Personally I was amazed at LG's colors and brightness, but as i said I didnt had remote to play around, I saw that blur and bit of color peeling of the faces....

Anyways as you mentioned after adjusting there was no blur then it should be decision for you.
My family preferred Sony too rather than 2D to 3D on LG :P
When comparing 2D PQ obviously sony looked better.
So thats the reason for to go for Sony :D

I really dont like to go to office now want to just enjoy some awesome quality of movies :P

Im stunned by the quality as this also happens to be my 1st LED LCD TV.
The family loves it :)
