Confused between LG 42LA 6910 & Sony 42W 800

My TV got setup yesterday evening. The W800is simply awesome. I didnt do any changes to settings. Watching it out of the box without any problem. Just cant stop watching.

Congrats Sri. How's the brightness of the w800 as most reviews have complained in that front. Also how is the SD pic quality?

Plugged in my 2TB External HDD whch have about 20 1080p movies, playing them without any problem. Even 720 and regular standard movies are amazing to watch on it. Superb smoothness, crispnesss and colors. Perfect for me.
3D is same as in LG.

Except 2D to 3D is really bad.
Anyways no regrets for me as I'm gonna get all the 3D movies in 1080p.

Shrey,
I would suggest you to get LG for better 2D to 3D.
For me I dont need advance features or apps, I was looking for a TV not a PC :-)

Congratulations.
So, now sony plays mkvs also. Very good.
Very good choice. All is well that ends well.
W800, the best affordable led which produces tons of details in the picture.
Enjoy your tv.

Ok guys after almost 5 hours of continuous observation in TV showroom.. i decided to go with LG.

Just got it delivered :)

SONY has great PQ but i also noticed it was very bright which is not required at all.. LG brightness and colors are very nice and well balanced. I like the way LG managed colors.. Watched Sports NO BLUR NOTICED.

Color presentation on both models were good.. but as i said SONY is very bright.

Im not sure about LG 2011 models but i hate LG 2012 models, now their PQ has improved. (Can't compare with 2012 models)

I know SONY has great PQ but LG is good too..

Here in HYD most of the TV stores are out of stock for LG.
In Croma HYDERABAD, only demo TV available. Luckily got it from TMC.

Thanks for all your suggestions, support and love.. had a great experience chatting with you guys.
I will continue to stay in touch.. Will write a review soon and post some pics as well.

Thanks GUYS :) Love you all.

As the setting changes can dramatically improve lg's performance, so can the brightness control can reduce the brightness of sony. Right?
Anyways..
Enjoy your tv. Explore all the smart features.
Best Regards.

Let me tell u i am not after useless smart features.. :ohyeah:
Have a look at these two models then comeback and post.

I didn't say LG is better than SONY or vice versa. Both have their pros and cons.:p

Yes. Though I have seen 46W805A I haven't seen this LG model. I have to definitely do this as the analysis presented is little bit confusing.
On one hand it is being said that Sony has great PQ but LG manages colour and brightness better than Sony.
Again it is said that Sony has great PQ but LG was not bad.
What is the great PQ of Sony that was being admired when LG was managing better, the colours, brightness etc etc.

LG manages color's and brightness better? NO
Sony is better on its own way which is great as well.

LG PQ is great but not better than SONY though, which is again compensated by 3D in LG.. and some other values added features.
So both TV's are equally balanced in their price range.

Shrey,

You are balancing based on different parameters. Can't compare PQ with feature list and average it out. If the features matters more than PQ then it is a different story.

I kind of disagree on brightness. Sony does it better. Their eco setting is on by default (last I checked) and it affects contrast and gamma.

Colors I tend to agree though not much of difference.

Enjoy your tv. Possible that you compared them than most of us here and liked it over the W800. In the end your satisfaction matters.

Thank you all for your opinions.

I still need to get DTH service. As of now I'm playing movies on my External HDD.
W800 supports MKV and MP4 formats which is a huge relief for me.
PQ is excellent.
As in the reviews, it doesn't generate deeper blacks and incorporates Frame dimming which is not so good as Local Dimming and thus not so deep black levels. Many people are too concerned with black levels but it isn't for me, that said W800 produces decent enough black levels and completely satisfied with it.

Anyways I'm loving this TV...haven't tweaked anything much in the settings. Still need to go through Manual and settings. Whenever I think of doing that I end up watching some movie instead :P.....with default settings.

I'll post back when I do some tweaking.

Shrey,
How is your experience with LG?

Thanks.
