I'm just curious about 3-way floor standing speakers, particularly ones with 12 inch or bigger size woofer. i haven't come across any even upon Googling it except the Cerwin Vega XLS series. My question is how pervasive are such setup? If not then why? Are there any other established brands that make such speakers or is it just a niche market with few options?

Most of the speaker manufacturers have limited the woofer size to 8". Jbl still have some model with 12" mostly studio monitors.

Probably because if 12 inch single woofer is used it will not be a typical floor stander. It will be classic vintage style 3 way. like Pioneer HPM series for example.
I guess main advantages (or companies choose to have it that way) of Floor standers are the mid tweeters remain at ear level. multiple woofers (8 inches) can move same air with lower cone excursion. narrower width of enclosures helps with edge defraction. etc.

The Klipsch Forte III comes to mind.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
