Dead pixels in my C9

If you can find an equivalent Samsung panel or spend 10K-30K on an equivalent Sony panel, ditch LG
The price difference is definitely not 10k-30k.

I went window shopping yesterday evening for a 65 incher, and every dealer atleast here in Bangalore, from Reliance Digital to Girias to Unilet, was very keen on pushing the LG C1 on me even though I made it clear to them that my living room gets very bright and hence an oled does not suit my use case. And somehow they manage to offer a really good price too.

One of them offered me a 65 C1 for 1.79L even without negotiating, but when asked about the Sony A80J, they refused to go below 2.4L (not that I need an oled, I was just curious about how much they will come down on the price).

So clearly the dealers have much better margins on selling anything LG. In the Indian market, you won't find many takers for the A80J when the equivalent LG is being offered for like 70k less.

It has always been so. Sony A8h vs LG CX also had a huge price difference and LG C9 vs Sony A8G etc... They buy panels from LG and obviously have to put a margin above their assembly price. Besides Sony has put a blanket ban on price reductions among the distributors and dealers. They would therefore urge you to buy something in excess and combine the bill and offer you a small discount that's flagged to the other product. Like sound bars. There's a catch on that too these days. Not much room for negotiation and therefore I got fed up with Sony products.

First they were a Mid range Tv brand but since few years they have the Ego that they are the King of Premium Tvs.
The fact is, they are a top tier brand to consider among most households and even critical viewers. Its the first name that comes to mind. They pioneered the OLED concept and the fact that almost everyone buys their panels is a testament to what they have achieved. King of Premium TV's is indeed what I'd call them cause they have delivered consistently over the last decade. Their lack of delivering on service is a different subject.

I suggest escalating the matter with an Ombudsman at LG. I am not sure if this Link is relevant but its somewhere to start. I'd would not be dramatic or threaten them. It is futile to do so. Explain the matter clearly and why you bought their product. Off late, I see this tendency to shame a company when they do not support your request. Social media may allow us to do that. It does not mean you should escalate matters like this. LG or any company for that matter may take time to resolve matters. In some cases, they may not. There is little you can do. Today, you will thrash LG. Tomorrow, it will be Sony, Panasonic, etc or whatever it is you buy. Electronics can fail and there is little anyone can do about it. There is no incentive at all for a company to throw in a free panel or part. There is a warranty and some companies offer an extension of that warranty. In this time, they will support you the best way they can. After this, you're on your own.

Yes they have the upper hand now since they are the only manufacturers for oled panels which is considered to be the best and premium panels in the current TV market. It may and should change in few years. Threatening is not going to help in any way which i agree and never did. They are a giant company.I have explained the matter clearly, escalated to CEO and followed all the protocols a customer can follow. All failed and LG has clearly denied a free panel replacement which is within their rights. But in the same way the customer can share the story of how a TV that costs 2L couldn't even last 1000 hours and their insane quote of 1.25L for panel replacement to spread awareness and get some satisfaction shaming the company. Guess LG would replace panels for free post warranty period only if it has degraded to a level that is not manageable for regular contents based on their pattern on replacing panels. But LG is behaving cheaply in deleting all my tweets and replying as my concern is addressed . I told very clearly this is just a feedback tweet on your oled threads. I just post the video in all their oled related threads explaining how my panel didnt even last 1000 hours and dont see anything wrong with this. Replying with a lie that my issue is addressed and deleting my comment i mean seriously?

Did they not offer a 50% discount on that figure? I thought that was rather nice of them to offer that. Granted its not what you want but they did get back to you with a solution. There is no way you can replace your oled with a new one for that price.

Yes, to the second sentence I've quoted.

I would persevere the matter in a more formal approach than go to social media for issues like this. It may take time and you need to wait. Not sure if you want to do business with LG anymore. You can ask them if they are willing to offer you a good discount for a new oled TV. This will be a direct negotiation with LG.

If you read the fine print of any device warranty, they make it very clear. We will continue to support you but at your cost. There are instances where they may honor (or goodwill) a post warranty case (like yours) and often they don't.

A single issue like this isn't going to make a $70 Trillion company move an inch. If you want to wake their legal team up, collect statistics over premature failure of oled panels and make it evident there are underlying issues. There could be many like you who may have have experienced something similar.

What you have experienced is unfortunate. It can happen to anyone with any brand of TV or whatever the appliance. I've experienced something similar with Philips. This is before social media days. They did not fix the issue. There was a design defect. What they offered was a discount to upgrade the device and access to one of their top Engineers (Not a dealer) who kept me in the loop for their seconds offerings. I got access to brands like Marantz because of this relationship. While I did not get what I want (which was a refund), they made up in other ways. This did not happen overnight. It took several months.

I have had enough experience to know getting something out of a brand like Lg will only end in vain.Even 65k is to much and I have no interest.I have moved on and will continue to use my tv as long as manageable. I always hated Korean brands and my experience has always been bad with them. China, us, Japanese brands have given me better experience and are much more reliable then these cheap(interms of quality) Korean brands. But having said that if it’s a TV I will always stick with Oled. Can’t bare to look at qleds and led tvs. Hopefully by the time I upgrade I will have a room that can accommodate a projector and I can skip Oled. I will continue to post my story in all LG Oled related posts on social media for my satisfaction. I know it’s not going to be a huge burden for them but just for my satisfaction.

If you keep doing that, you will never move on, how many months/years you plan to keep posting on their social media?
Incase you want to move one, it should be either fix the tv or buy another one from a different brand.
Posting on their social media repeatedly for months/years will make them just block you or make you look like a troll.
Plus you will be visiting their social media platforms for sharing your experience for months/years thats not moving on but keeping this grudge in you, which is not worth it. Life is too short for complaining & cribbing, find a solution & get done with it, that's moving on.

Just giving my thoughts & not trying to discourage you. It's unfortunate & these things happen in today's electronics in general.
Whatever you decide, i wish you Luck.

From what you said, the tv will be good for a few years atleast. It has dts x passthrough which CX does not i think. So repair cost will get cheaper but the dts audio codecs this supports will be worth it for a fix in future. By the time it would be in the range of 25k only which is the same as an external warranty you pay during purchase for additional two years. So you will find the win win situation. Just keep going and use this till it gets unbearable.

Yes that’s the plan. Hopefully it degrades slowly and can manage for another 4 years.

Well what a surprise. I totally gave up and also stopped commenting and tweeting. Suddenly got a call and confirmation that my panel will be replaced freely. Today it was replaced and I literally have no words to praise LG for its amazing support even after the warranty period. Time to convert from a LG hater to a loyal and thankful customer of LG. Also thank every fm who took the time to comment on the YouTube post.

It will be great if you can tweet about LGs amazing support.

Is there a PQ difference or same & not so noticable difference?
Yes there is a noticeable difference. Image is sharper and the colours seems to be more punchy. May be some software glitch that was resolved after the tv was factory reset or there is some improvements with the new panel due to variations with unit to unit. Also when I ran the 5% grey scale test slide it was completely black instead of grey but after 5 hours of usage it became grey and normal.

The panel probably is Duterium based evo OLED.
