I am looking to a BluRay player.

Is Denon player, region free. or can we make it region free easily.

Is panny BDT220 better than this?

Panny is easy to make region free. Not sure about Denon model. There is also a Pioneer model which can be made region free by hardware mod.

Definitely not region free. No BD player is sold region free with the exception of an Onida model (I forgot the number). The hardware mod will be difficult to find because

- it takes skill, effort, time and money to make a mod (be it hardware or firmware)
- there are not too many buyers of BDPs from likes of Denon, Marantz, etc. which are known more for their audio products
- hence there is less or almost zero demand for mods of these players

Best one I can recommend is Panasonic. Is Panasonic better than Denon? I think for BD playback via HDMI there will be no difference. For DVD upscaling too, the difference will not be great (if at all). The Panasonic will be cheaper and can be made region free. So there is a clear winner of the race. The only snag is that the Panasonic BDP is currently out of stock everywhere in India. But you can always go via the import route via Amazon.co.uk or overstock.com and ship via Aramex SnS.

for original br playback i think to its waste to pay that much extra for denon player.....a pana 220 is sufficient.
well if you hava fancy for expensive blu ray player....oppo is good.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I am importing this from US.

Denon is $199. I might be able to negotiate another $20-25 off of this price.
Panny 220 is $100.

I think for now I will stick to Panny 220 and see if anything else comes around.
