woah it's 12000? That's really on the high side. Ouch
The fm acediyer has made great transformer covers using aluminium cylinders and cnc machine.
I personally feel that the cabinets by magma around 12000 is quiet costly for the pass 5 when you can get better finished ones from Hong Kong at similar prices with about half the price being the shipping cost.
Also would you guys happen to know any tube diy chassis/enclosures with transformer covers etc?
Thats...pretty awesome lol, but I was thinking more in lines of a premade kit and not a DIY epic saga
Thanks for your initiative, I will join the Group Buy for 2 (all metal) cabinets.
Please share the costing detail and picture of the prototype (if any)

Hi guys,
Any progress? I am finding myself too busy to go around the market looking for the heatsink and getting the cab done for the upcoming F5.
I am open for a GB.

I am not a DIYer but my first thought as the previous owner of Class A amps (Plinius), will the acrylic be able to take the heat generated? I think it got so hot that I could cook an egg on it sometimes in double time!
The Mimesis face-plate is gorgeous! Very Zen....

what you should worry about is not that the plexi will get to hot or deform
it would need a lot of heat for that happen
it would need to be really close to the heat sink for this to happen
i hope you havent touched the sides of the acrylic to the sink
it will discolor
the reason i dont use it in cabs is beacuse it cant dissipate
even a mild steel metal sheet dissipates the heat and cools itself
acrylic doesnt
Hi bibin,
Some questions:
Can you post photos of finished cabinets?
Are these for sale now or in near future?
If for sale? What will be the price of cabs for B1?
Thanks in advance.
