DIY: Pass F5 turbo v2 initiated

Received Caps ntcs, clips, sleeves and 220 ohm resistors

Thanks a ton for both Sachin and Om for organizing this. You guys are awesome.

Diodes are still in PO, BTW local parts are

For each set -
Rs 385 all local parts
Rs 225 all PCB pins and rubber sleeves for wire terminals
Rs 150 postage and packing
---------------------------
Rs 760 Sub Total-1

Tomorrow I will add Semiconductor import price (Approx Rs ~5000 for 24 diode+ matched Quad MOSFETs w/ previous ref of customs duty). I will start courier them from day after tomorrow. Anybody need details please drop me PM. In next couple of days I would be starting my build too.

@ OMishra, I'm confused:confused:

Are these in addition to the components sourced by Sachin?

oHH.. I am sorry for the confusion. This is just part of whole purchase. Sachin has ordered parts from spencers, rs and element 14. I bought few from Pune. So that's my purchase only. Rs 150 will be onetime (not each) from me to Sachin and PCB pins were separately added after initial calculations.

Further update. All part are in hand. Now I received all parts including remaining diodes from USA. So now I will coordinate with Sachin and send these to Sachin as he prepares final checklist of parts and send it to everybody.

please hold my consignment, as I am leaving day after tomorrow for a long vacation :yahoo: and will inform you when I return,

Thanks .

You already got all items including those diodes from first batch expects few from me. And it's late, your parcel is already packaged for Sanpada office.

and what are they used for?

Rajesh,

It would be difficult to answer these questions. You need to look at the complete kit and the parts and then you will be able to figure out a lot of things from your background of DIY. If there are any questions further, you can address them here. I am saying this because I have built this kit and it is very easily laid out and easy to understand.

Cheers.

Hi All,
Kindly Pm me your full shipping address with Pin code and contact details.I will start shipping kits from Monday. Also Pm email id.I will send you a checklist in xls format.

Regards,
Sachin

Finally got going with stuffing the boards

Guys,

Finally I started soldering F5T v2 components on to the boards.

I completed the rectifier board. Soldered 32 thin film capacitors, 16 diodes and pins for teh connectors.

For a first timer like me it feels good. But a long way to go before I get done.

Question for om.

I see .22 ohm (16 nos ) resistors 3w. I suppose these go on the power supply boards. I see the markings on the power supply boards as .47 ohm. Can you please confirm the changes.

Thanks
Pandu

Hi Pandu,
Please use .22 ohm resisters in place of .47 ohms on power supply filter board.

Sachin

Yes, F5 turbo document has shared ps with 8x .47ohm resistors. We achieved same approx value by 4 X .22 ohms. Those marking help for combination in case of v3 build, not in scope of v2.

om/Sachin,

I know that electrolytic capacitors, input jfets, output mosfets, diodes need to be soldered in with proper polarity signs. I also found that film capacitors dont have polarities.

Can you list out any other items where polarities need to be checked for.

ALso I was trying to measure .22 ohm resistors resistance on my DMM. It was showing inaccurate values. When researched on teh net I found out that low resistances cannot be measured accurately.

Do we need measure resistance across every item before we insert it into the PCB boards.

For first timers everything is big. Please bear with us for some of these NOOB questions.

Thanks
Pandu

Hi Pandu,
Film caps have no polarity
You don't have to measure resistance.I have marked everything properly.but there could be chances of mistake.
This is a big build even for some old timers. There are too many cmponents, but the good thing is that we have enough space on PCB.

Sachin

My intention of posing that question is to figure out whether I would need it or not and if needed, to get all the components in one shot rather than asking for them in piece meal which is more taxing to Sachin & Om.

Hi Capt,
You can solder wires directly on PCB but its better to use connectors.there are total 70(approx) clips,Nylon or Teflon sleeves ets for each kit.You can see few pics here http://www.hifivision.com/diy/28245-diy-pass-f5-turbo-v2-initiated-26.html
