DIY: Pass F5 turbo v2 initiated

Aluminium heatsink, Heat sink in bangalore, Heatsink stockist, Heatsink dealer, Heatsink supplier, Aluminium LED Heatsinks, Aluminium Reflector Sheets, Aluminium Caul board Sheet 2.5mm, Aluminium Plywood sheets, Aluminium Alloy Rods, plates in 2014, 7

How about N77 from this page. Does the heat transfer of this heat sink suffice our requirement.

Remember we have vertical fins. That will have better convection air flow around the fins.

I will be again using 7.5 in height four pieces.

Let me know your opinion.

THanks

Pandu, there a lot of heatsink profiles available with the Aluminium shops
at RP Road. There are a bunch of shops on the left side, between
Ghasmandi X Roads, and the bridge. It comes in long lengths, but I think they will
cut it, or have smaller pieces. I got some quite cheap for my MyRef amp.
They are not black anodised, but you can get that done quite easily.

Quad,

I went around RP road in the month of Feb and mar. F5 needs big heat sinks. The heatsinks which are available in RP road dont match our requirement.

I feel Perfectmetal.in looks like the place for the heatsinks. I agree we need to pay for shipping but I did not find anybody who can supply big heat sinks in hyd.

Thanks
Pandu

Check for Hindalco dealers. They will have. Also look at their catalog on the web.

Anilva,

Thanks for the pointer. I checked with Hindalco dealers. Most of them are not stocking the ones we need.

Have you bought any from Hindalco. If so which one(model #) did you use.

I was looking for the ones with Fins exceeeding 60 mm.

Thanks
Pandu

om,

Can you post the co ordinates of the Mosfets on the PCB. I know you told me on the Phone but I misplaced them.

Sure!
These are 4 MOSFETs from left to right All distance are in inches measured from left point to MOSFET middle pin. Please calculate the differetial

L(0)<- 2.15" ->M1- 4.55" ->M2- 6.90" ->M3- 9.30" ->M4- 11.5" ->R

PCB update

Hi all,
PCBs have been dispatched from the factory.I should receive them in 2-3 days.Tonight,I will post amount required(approx) for Mosfets and other parts.I will need the balance amount in 2-3 days.

Regards,
Sachin

1st PCB received

Received 10 kg box full of Power Supply filter boards for F5 TV2 today:) .They are big, heavy and thick.I am posting few images here:

Hi Friends,

From a long time, it was in mind to have nice class A amplifier. Pass Amplifiers don't need my introduction. It's well known to DIY circles. I am churning out all available material on forums.

As subject states I am referring this - http://www.firstwatt.com/pdf/art_f5_turbo.pdf

I went ahead buying PCB for my build. But unfortunately I find some issues as PCB tracks are thin as well as they are 305mm long, 5mm more than my heat sink. So I designed with following thought in mind.

1. For power and output it is both sides will be overlapping. size will be approx 295mmX42mm (subject to change)
2. All heat producing devices are equally distributed at one edge.
3. using thick copper with wider tracks on both side.
4. Avoid in-out crossing to avoid oscillation, mind this is wide band amplifier.

These are my layout with two proposals -
Proposal 1: This will have input at center and will be same layout used for left and right channel.

Proposal 2: This will have input at once end and left - right will have different symmetric PCB.

Let's discuss pro's and con's of these two approaches. Further story will unfold as this project make progress. ;)

Thanks,

Very good progress so far. Finalized on the heat sinks. Need to work on the cabinets.

Thanks for the effort.

Thanks Sachin. It seems those 24 X MUR diodes and JFets taking all finance almost 5000 RS.
Any other alternative?

Yes Om,
that Vishay Diodes are having half of kit cost.Same diode of ON Semiconductor cost Rs 175/piece.2 matched pair of Toshiba Jfets costing Rs 900 including shipping.

I think I am fine. because it includes Electrolytic caps for the power supply boards, resistors on the Power supply and pcbs.

Will do the transfer tommorrow.

Thanks

sachu88,

There are so many parts to get, it is likely to exceed this budget too if procured individually. So I think we are fine here

Thanks for the great effort.

Thanks Pandu,
we have tried our best to keep the cost as low as possible without compromising in quality. We kept a close watch over DIY audio GB and almost succeeded to match their prices.Tea Bag F5T boards costs $30+(+$17 shipping) Power supply boards another $20(one board)+$17shipping and customs(if any),no rectifier board. Our price of full set of PCB is Rs 3000(total 5 boards).Total no of participants are far more there as compared to us.

Sachin
