Does Marantz SR6004 connect to and play from USB Hard Drive?

Hi,
I am struggling to connect my USB HDD (Toshiba 1TB) to my SR6004. I have tried it using the port at the front of the AVR. It tries to detect but just does not.

I have video files that I wish to play from the receiver. At the moment, I am constrained to connect to the TV. Am not sure if I am doing things right, but would love to know more.
I read somewhere that they are able to play music connecting the USB to the Marantz, but I am unable to do that.

The receiver will not play video files through USB. Audio only.
Can you plug in a pen drive and check if it recognizes it?

The USB slot only supports audio playback...depending on the model, certain formats are supported...read the manual

All depends on your budget!

Amkette, Iomega, etc are budget brands

You can also look @ bluray players which can fulfill the same features including disc playback

I use ASUS O!Play Mini. Older model; there may be newer ones.
Simple player. Paid 4.5K+ and attached a 2TB HDD (got one on sale a couple of years ago).

For 30K budget you are better off exploring a purpose built HTPC.

I am using DUNE HD MAX for the past four years... wonderful player.
You can try a DUNE product with given budget... BTW Zappiti 4K Media Player is also quite good and fits in your budget.

If you don't have a Blu-Ray player, buy one in that budget range, it will play Blu-Ray/DVD + USB media content ( Audio & Video).

I own an ASUS O Mini player and a Sony Blu Ray player, the PQ and SQ of movies (.mkv/.mp4) are absolutely stunning when played through the BDP rather than the stand alone media player. The Media player is good in terms of the supportability, it will play anything which you throw at it. The SQ and PQ is acceptable for the price paid.
