cant believe , it is with security in office , i have unpacked and repacked.
the disk is very small made in malaysia , the cartoon stays 2 TB .

A china QC stamp extra sticker is there on paper cartoon. :yahoo::yahoo:

unless i test I am assuming it is real WD

The look and feel of the pack seems genuine WD , cables also by WD ..

Am already salivating. Heard that HD prices are going to fall again slowly though due the weakening of the rupee.
Fortunately I can wait as I had purchased two 2TB drives just before the floods. Still 2 TB of free space left for my downloads.

well it was some 4590 INR, customs dept did mercy on my pack so .Due to dollar increase the little difference,happy so far provided it works as i want

google calculates format time 24Hour for 1.8tb
but i did a quick format,so far no progress bar .The format is running.

may be china copy of 2tb comes without sticker.the warehouse fellow by mistake pasted 500gb fake sticker

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you because it has been a trend started with cheap pendrives mostly from kingston with capacities of 32 or 64 gb which was just a hack so that windows recognizes it as the same capacity. Many friends had fallen prey to such rip offs. As soon as they transfered data more than 2 gb their drive became inaccessible. If the format turns out well and you are able to transfer more than 1tb. It would be a miracle!

observations :
first of all it is a spinning HDD,i can hear it , the fake HDD capacity clones are normally flash drives so kamse kam 500GB sure

data copy test :
now i cant test as it is unformatted , format going on very slowly , may be by tomorrow afternoon will be over
lappy HDD is 120gb so copy test will take a few days

My advice. Copy paste things instead of cutting and pasting. At least we're are sure it is a working drive. That is something to be cheer about. Best of luck.

grrrr...i need 17hour ininterrrupted power...3 time power cut from yesterday,or i need tool to partly format

my lapto has 12min backup,if needed will carry office laptop that has 5hour backup ,by friday .

Then overnight i can format.

also any members an help in copy pasting the data? also after copy pasting please check some big files if they are playing.

why not leave it at office overnight for formatting - assuming your office has uninterrupted power supply.

looks like there is Queue for HDD . I cant promise but yes as always i have taken the risk ....

for people who fear to order i can arrange to get shipment of 3 Pcs, test and deliver for 500 odd extra per pc ..profit that will go to my DIY .

For others they have to directly order once i reveal the source.

That all will be after 1 pc that i ordered comes safe .. infact i hope it will be a hard disk , not a brick

wHOA..seller reassures it is 2.5inch with 2TB,item is shipped from warehouse , look closer ,see your HDD is waiting there

hours to format the HDD ??? it should take a max of 10-15 mins if you are running win 7. else win xp select quick format...

also in disk management it will show size of the partition once you create. make multiple partitions and then format.

did u try doing for 1Gig atleast at the raw state, not after the HDD is preformatted hdd
