Fans of Television Series

Subah had a sequel named Inkaar, it was also very good.

Also two of my favourites were Neenv and Indradhanush

Do you remember this?

I used to love the title songs of the old serials. In many cases, they were of the same quality as good movie playback music of that era.

And on a side note, what a car! I also sometimes feel that in the 70s, 80s, and even 90s, the sense of style and taste was more evolved. Perhaps easy money and easy access to information has spoilt us.

GOT dammm YOU MADE the evening for me .... I had COMPLETELY forgotten this serial as well as the title track. But the moment it started I literally had goose bumps and could felt the shower of nostalgia all across my body ......
The title track is THE BEST of any title track any bloody TV has produced ....... RD Burman was a legend and will always be one of the top 3 Music directors of this century

Thanks man Thanks for sharing this .....

I am searching youtube for "Rin ek do theen" , hilarious parody show made by sachin.
But could not find even a single episode.
Btw, anybody remembers the very first tv serial on DD called "Buniaad"?

Glad you enjoyed it. I had the exact same experience when I heard it again after 20 years. A visceral gut-clenching goose bump experience. Subah was the one serial that really shook me to the core when I was a kid. And the title song was undoubtedly one of the best I have heard.

There were many other good serials in that era - like Kile Ka Rahasya, Byomkesh Bakshi, and of course, the iconic Bharat Ek Khoj. Any many others too - can't recollect.

However, none like Subah. Nothing in the last 20 years that comes close to grappling such a controversial topic and doing such a good job of it.

I also vaguely remember Kile Ka Rahasya having this spooky soundtrack but can't find it anywhere.

I remember one of their parody with duplicates for Yaadon ke baraat, it was named Lathon ke BAraat and it was awesome.

One of the best. Our entire family would get together to watch it along with I Love Lucy. Also, Nukkad, Karamchand, and Buniyaad were extremely popular.

Oh I remember watching those too. We used to love watching them. We used to like Karamchand eating those juicy carrots, his secretary ogling at him. Anita Kanwar as Laajo ji was so great (I loved her acting in movie Thoda Sa Roomani Ho Jaayen also).

Neena Gupta's Safar and other serials like Idhar Udhar, Dhoop, Humraahi, Hum Log, Swabhimaan, Mr Yogi, Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne, Potli Baba Ki, Chamatkaari Telephone, Gaayab Aaya ... I can keep going on and on about the serials I enjoyed watching ha ha

chamatkari telephone ..?? this is one I do not recall at all. .... add to the list, indradhanush and there was one serial called "StoneBoy" was very popular ...... I am sure not many people will recall this one ... :)

I remember watching Chandrakanta. I used to say yukku pitaji as part of 'normal' conversation in school. Kroor singh was very inspiring:p. Most Ramanand Sagar stuff was interesting to watch. Swabhimaan was one of a kind series. Then there was Surabhi (never missed a single episode). Bharath ek khoj was another favourite, especially the title track. Also, Malgudi days. Looking back, DD rocked.

Finished Season 1 of Deadwood. A dirty western setting based loosely on historical characters around the time of deadwood's annexation to Dakota. For a western, there are no face to face gunfights and no demarcation of good and bad. What it has is lot of mud and personalities with varying moral standards who act out of their self interest. The other thing that sets it apart from normal shows is the language. At times, it is poetic, dramatic and makes me look up the dictionary, but is also loaded with profanity. Debra Morgan would not have managed so much in the entire 8 seasons of Dexter as Al Swearengen does in three episodes.

Ian McShane, who is magnificent as Al, gradually grew on me and is the single biggest reason I am drawn to the series. Keith Carradine's Wild Bill, Brad Dourif's Doc Cochrane are the other stand-out characters for me. Of course, Timothy Olyphant with his good looks and strange walk gets the top billing. But, I like him better as Raylan than as Seth here, as he does not scare me when he tries to be angry.

The show sometimes feels like it drags a little, but is generally good. Is it me or the actors start looking cleaner as the show progressed?

Also started watching 'House of Cards' (2013). It's Kevin Spacey all the way. It has picked up pace by the fourth episode. I just hope it holds up. At some point, I have to watch the original 'House of Cards' trilogy, if just to compare the original 'break the fourth wall' moments with the US version.
