Fans of Television Series

Please enlighten if anything is worth watching :D.

Do remember fondly some old ones, but nothing much in the last decade or so.
Even I'm talking about the old ones. Don't remember when I watched an Indian TV serial last on TV.
But loved some of the ones that were telecast in Doordarshan before the advent of cable TV.

Anyone remember a show called Shaayad on Zee TV (I think). Any idea if there's a way to watch it now? On a channel or online?

I recently got copies of Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot. Watching makes me remember of my childhood days.

Still looking for Neenv, Subaah, Inkaar, Taalash (Lekhu), Karamchand, Tehkikaat

Seems like people here are just ashamed to admit publicly that they watch any Indian series.
I liked Astitva on Zee TV, a few years ago. It was the story of a woman's fight against the challenges in life.
And how can anyone forget Humlog and Buniyad? (Ok these are old ones).

Finally Completed season 1 of Shark ... and boy believe me this show drools quality all over ... out of first 22 episode, none absolutely none of it I can think off that was any way less intriguing or interesting as any other ........only the the last episode, thought a very decent twist I thought was rushed a bit .......

Started season 2 ......

Nope I am not ashamed to admit, why should I be, But and If there are quality shows, sensible offerings ....... which there is a huge scarcity off. Every second TV series I try to start on either sony or Zee is overly blown out of proportion by exaggerated melodrama, unrealistic situations, annoying cliche dialogues, stupid presentation, and no sensible plot what so ever.

That is why we cant forget Humlog or Buniyad or Tapas (mini tv series, rings any bells), Bharat eak Khoj, Malgudi Days, Life Line (superb medical drama) etc

Today its just Crap and Crap to hell ......

Anyway .... I still watch couple of Hindi TV series that have retained some sense and credibility to be original. One such beautiful TV series was Mahi Way on sony. It was a gem in this garbage and I was lucky to follow almost the entire series.
Currently I'd say I am happy watching Parvarish ...
which deals with young parents with teens and their regular issues, in a very entertaining way. Though still a bit repetitive at occasions, its still the best Indi TV series I can find today .......

Started Jericho .... completed first 7 episodes of SE01, and I must say, I am impressed, pretty impressed. If people know I already am a fan of Post-apocalyptic or World Ending Genre. Jericho falls somewhere on those lines. Premises is well built. US is nuked, all major cities. Jericho is a small town on the out skirts, which aint directly effected but has to deal with the repercussions of this new truth/reality. The show is shot just with the perspective of people of this town. The situations they face are truly real, and the best part (which is very imp in shows like this) are the dialogues, which are absolutely believable. Show is holding pretty good till ep7, let see .....

Re: something like 'Game of thrones'?

Any more TV series on the lines of 'Game of thrones' ? Say, like medieval fantasy and of english origins?

Hey Guys,

Anyone has watched "The Firm" based on the John Grisham novel, "The Firm"?

Too good, every episode keeps you on the edge of the seat and just keeps you wanting for more......

Another good one I remeber was the Satyajit Ray Presents aired on Doordarshan long back, remeber that Kissa Kathmandu Ka was one of them where Shashi Kapoor played the role of the famous detective Feluda.

I loved to watch Indian serials, till they started with daily episodes. Then the onslaught of saans bahu started and it went downhill. With the suspense, thrill ride, shocking dialogues (to the actors in the scene), moving cameras give big time headaches to both my wife and me. We have limited ourselves to old tv serials on youtube mostly. May be because its a nostalgia for us. Off late, there are some better tv shows and we are just getting started on those. Here is to hope they don't fall to the same dramas like other tv shows.

On another note, If you want to see overall great quality show, get "Lost" on Bluray. Pristine image quality, very scenic island and gripping story. You would absolutely love it on your hidef tv + 5.1/7.1 system.

A very good English Suspense thriller,,, Fringe.. Check all the 4 seasons. This year they are about to conclude in 5th and final season starting Sept / Oct. If you start watching one episode you cannot stop watching subsequently.

Yep completed the first 2 then I got kinda bored and moved on. Currently watching awsome Jerico .......

Not sure if you guys discussed this serial....try Sherlock from BBC, modern take on Sherlock homes....awesome serial and IMO better the recent Sherlock movies....Only 3 episodes from each 2 season but each like a movie in itself...I'm planning to invest on blu ray on this...

Another serial I really liked recently is Game of thrones...2 seasons out and really good...

But my all time favorite is LOST...what a TV series...I have the complete set in Bluray and its feast for eyes...

Try Firefly its the series which spun off the movie Serenity...a very good if you're a Sci-fi fan....

Firefly ran it's course in 2002-03. Serenity came out in 2005. It's the other way around. I liked the series much better than the movie.

+1. Movie was based on the series... after the series was cancelled.

Loved them both BTW and also Whedon's other hit serial Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I don't particularly watch TV but I do tune into The Big Bang Theory daily at 11 pm on Zee Cafe. Its into season 5 now but all previous 4 seasons are worth catching up with.
