Fans of Television Series

Sam, I hovered quickly through SE01E01 of Stranger Things and got the impression like its meant for children. Is it really good engaging stuff for elders like Breaking bad and The Night Of?

It is seriously good and its entertainment for adults. Its not in the genre of BB, but more like Super 8, where kids are the stars, but its a movie for adults.

My review from when I saw it... do watch it.

Stranger Things (TV Series 2016 ) - IMDb - Lots of fun. Has a lot going for it with kids being the leads. Draws inspiration from movies like E.T., and Super 8, and maintains both the tempo and the entertaiment for the entire season.

Netflix has done it again, not the greatest in TV shows, but very high on entertainment and production values. Highly recommended.

Thanks regeHA, I will surely give it a try. Have downloaded the complete 1 season in full HD. :)

Here My Review ...

Stranger Things (Watched it on Netflix)..... well finally gave this immensely popular Netflix Original. I loved it .... But I must say I have lived up watching movies of the late 80s and 90s so I will be biased a little bit in rating, since I just LOVED the 80s/90s retro look of the show. The latchkey approach of 80s childhood was perfectly captured by stranger things, kids actually were pretty free range and out going in those days and with the digital free lifestyle, there were adventures to follow.(Homage to ET, Goonies, Explorers, close encounters, Gremlins ...and lot many)

All this perfectly embodied the restless, carefree sprit of that era .......

Moving ahead Absolutely fell in love with the sound track and background score .... the opening sound track had that "Daft Punk" feel written all over it. People who have seen Tron Legacy might know what I mean. The entire background score has serious John Carpenter feel, loved it.

The ending has left lots of questions unanswered, so yes SE02 is as always expected .... 7.5/10 for this one.

Completed Master of None S1. I loved Aziz Ansari for his acting and his accent. A very good one, worth spending time on especially if you have been to US.

Preacher - SE01 - 4 Episodes .... Just thought to update, started watching preacher yesterday night and, I am 4 eps down the line, frankly I am till now just ok with the TV series. It has not kept me "wanting" more if thats how I may put it. Pacing is problem, for one, and plot is not progressing anywhere, or atleast progressing at a snails pace. None the less will continue and report after completing ...

Preacher - Season 01 ...... well the verdict does not change, I still was just ok only after finishing the season one. I thought the plot had a lot of potential, but the pacing and thrill was not there, I know and I have seen TV series which are slow, but still keeps things interesting, intriguing so to speak (HUMANS and COLONY comes to mind for now), but Preacher just didn't have that edge, for me the events were really incoherent. I don't like screenplays that spoon feed the end user with details, but you also cant expect them to be thrown in completely arbitrary direction and then expect the sense to prevail. Sorry this didnt work for me. ...........Preacher was just 6.5/10 ....(atleast based on season 1)

Me too left Preacher after 1 episode. These hybrid psychological super power protagonist shows aren't cutting any ice with me & there is a plague like situation out there currently.

I've not seen them but my wife liked The Preacher, The Night Of, and Outcast very much... in fact must watch was her opinion for all 3 shows among all of the new shows this season.

Guess different things for different folks.

I started watching Preacher with a skeptical frame of mind. I found EP1 rather slow, but towards the end, I did find it interesting enough to go on to EP2. After that, I quite enjoyed the entire season.

More than just the Preacher/Jesse, I found the other two main characters (Cassidy and Tulip) quite interesting. I think I watched the series to learn about them more, than for anything else.

Also, I think that violence, when done right, can be quite fun. Preacher seems to have got the violence/satire/humor mix dialled in about right. (I laugh hard every time Cassidy exclaims "Jeeezus"! I'm not saying why here, to avoid spoilers, but folks who've watched the series will get it).

I do look forward to watching Season 2.

I started "Stranger Things" yesterday. I can't wait to binge on it during the weekend!

^^ Cassidy was the only character that became one of the main reason for me to keep continuing, he was fun to watch, and that twisted British accent had me laughing ....("Shite" ... :D) .... then again I thought he was under utilized. I read in IMDB, that the graphic novel is much more interesting and there are adventures of preacher, cassidy and tulip to follow, may be SE02 will be better ...

Sam, any particular reason why you wait for Se01 to complete? I too feel quite exited and 'cant wait feel' for the next episode when each 45 minutes finishes. Is that what is keeping you away from not watching till a Season finish? :)

The Night of is a classic old school crime detective stuff. The acting, direction, cinematography are all top notch. This is why I love human drama shows with their day to day trials & tribulations rather than the super human shows.

Yep exactly, hate waiting for the next episode ...., specially in the world of Netflix who wants to wait ... :D .. Binge Watching is the in thing:p

That's typical hbo, GoT, Ballers, True Blood or Night Of.. Name a genre where they wont put in the scenes which make them just gain the PG/A rating by the whisker...
By the way the Night Of is on hell of a crazy ride.. Eagerly waiting for the remaining episodes

"The Night of" Episode 7, absolutely brilliant, what amazing courtroom drama. The screen play just keeps getting better with each episode.
