how old the speaker? is it psb alpha b1 or other, you sell it only speaker ? if then how you want?:o
thank you
somen bhowmik

It is the PSB Alpha B1 which is approximately 1.5 years old but I am afraid it is not for sale. I just have to figure out a use for them - which I am confident I will, over time:)

Thank you.

Re: Equipment is certainly not smaller than the music.

Reminds me of a friend who always wants to hear good things only from an astrologer he visits. He does not like bad news. A fact not lost on the astrologer who will always tell my friend what he wants to hear.

Why not the same in music?

A forgiving astrologer?

I heard it with Raghu's Primare CD player and the NAD C325BEE which is not much different from the C320BEE.

I haven't heard the Dali as yet. I am trying to get in touch with Cressida to do an audition. Will update.

psychotropic - I have a question. What did you hear the PSB Alpha B1s with? In terms of CD Players and amplifiers?

Like I said I do have a pair of PSB Alphas and a Marantz receiver lying around. If you are interested maybe we can fire them up together to see how they go. Plus I do believe that the Marantz-PSB Alpha combination sounds better to me than the NAD BEE amps with the same speaker.

But then I hear different kind of music - so you should be the best judge on which combination is better.

I dont have any complaints with the Primare! But the BEE sound was not quite down my alley. To be more specific I am somehow not convinced that they are the best match for the PSB speakers. However in light of you yourself having gotten a NAD amplifier, I think that would be the right way to judge.

For one thing the BEE sound is hugely different from the C series sound (352/372). And I love the latters' sound!

Hi cool,
If you want to take an audition in a home environment without minding the positioning of my speakers you are welcome home.
cheers,
sri

Sri, Nice to know you enjoy the music even with the compromises and thanks for the audition offer. will come home should i need your help. But, first have to get an amp and get my room ready.

Regards

That's interesting because the general consensus seems to be that PSB-NAD is a good combination and this is what Raghu was saying as well.

NAD amps do require highly detailed speakers for them to shine, which is probably why I loved the BR2 with it.

But for the heck of it perhaps I can come over and listen to your PSBs with my amp to see how it sounds, maybe it'll work well in a home environment.

I know and Raghu and I disagree on that one subject:)

The Marantz-PSB pairing for most kinds of music (excepting Metallica perhaps) sounds far better than the NAD-PSB pairing (BEE amps, that is). You are welcome to try it out.

agreed
But may be not far better just "better "
more detailed
there is something you gain and loose too.The gain being a little more thatn the loss (however that is subjective)

Yup. It is all subjective! Sometimes I wonder why we all discuss about 'what is best' or 'what is better' when it is all so very personal. But then we all have our vices:)

hey magma, i went through your thread but couldn't find the reason why you finally picked the B15 over the BR2, could you let us know the reasons you finally went for the B15 over the BR2? and how the combo is doing right now at your place?

hmmm
im confused too as to why i picked them over the BR2 now!
lets just say the BR2 is as much my favorite speaker as the B15 that i bought.

the thing is that i really got put off by the BR2 when i paired it with a marantz PM7001
i had gone with a couple friends and we all thought our hears were gonna bleed

however with NAD the BR2 is superb
its just that that marantz BR2 audition was really frsh in my mind and hence i took the B15

another reason is that i listen to hindi music too
i found the BR2 a bit bright for my taste for hindi music(even with a NAD)
hence i had a trade off and got the B15

however for someone who listens to only english classic rock i would advice the BR2 NAD combo anyday!

because of the above reasons i dont mention clearly why i picked the PSB over the BR2
the reason is that i wanted people to decide for themselves since in my mind i loved both speakers equally.

Hi Tropic, How does Paradigm atom sound for rock and indian classical (vocal)as compared to wharfdale 9.1? want to know your opinion before auditioning and what is the price when u inquired?

hey cooltoad, these are excellent speakers, but their chief weakness is on account of their size. So unless your room is small, the bass may not be sufficient for rock music. No idea about Indian classical, but it had a very nice midrange, so I am guessing it should be good with it. I think it was 14k for the pair.

thanks for that magma. I also thought the NAD and the BR2 made a superb combination for rock music. Unfortunately my Usher auditions have gotten further postponed and now the dates are likely to be September 12th and 13th. Can't wait.

Hi tropic,

I really wish i have your patience and perseverance before buying stuff.:)
Anyway my best wishes to you to get the speakers that match with your NAD and make you happy.

cheers,
sri
