Hi All,

Planning to buy a stereo amp separately , I have Denon 1610 AVR but want to buy one separately for music

Budget : 40-60K

would like to know which one would be good :

Marantz pm 5004 or 6004 or PM 6005 ( seems it has inbuilt DAC )
(or) NAD - any specific model ?
(or) Onkyo

Source from which it will be played- CD player - Sony

Music source : CDs, USBs, MP3 CDs too.

Need - Should be able to listen to longer hours without any harshness, fatigue feeling.

Music genre : Instrumentals, cine music, jazz, bhajans, devotional , discourses, carnatic sometimes.

room size : 12x10

How do you compare Marantz to NAD to Onkyo ?
which is a good investment that can last for years - want to invest now so that I don't have to upgrade for atleast 5 years.

I would go for the pm6004 and use the remaining money to get a better source. What speakers are you planning on?

Either way best to audition extensively before you shell out your money.

Good luck and enjoy the search!

Come on friend Join the 2 Channel Club. This is how we all started and we are still running in the track. Your list of listening gener needs an all round performer. So finalise the Speakers first, cause these are the ones which will travel with you for long. Amplifier should be matched to the speakers.

Your quest for "Long listening with out harshness" means a lot, so be patient and take lot of auditioning and fix the package.

You want to settle for next five years with out up gradation :clapping: Lets hope for the best.

I have QAcoustics 2020 that's 4 years old, either I may use it (or)
may go for any suitable pair - in my mind are WFs Diamond 121, Polk ( any preferred series , have to explore ), Boston Acoustics..

would welcome suggestions on this.

why not PM6005, heard that it has inbuilt DAC , hence more sources can be fed into this box.. right ?

Consider the Onkyo TX 8050/TX 8030... along with DALI Zensor 3....

You already have a nice speaker.
Both QA and WF (cited models) are good rated speakers.
IMHO, no nod for Polk or BA for music.

Good choice of course.

Any Nad or Rotel amps with inbuilt DAC which may cost between 60k to 1Lakh.

You can also consider any used amps like Naim or Cyrus. It may cost 1Lakh or more for a new one. For good audiophile quality sound.

where do you get Rotel / Naim / Cyrus in chennai - atleast for audition I can check.. if not purchasing as it's too high :-(

Since this is going to be Separate stereo product, if you are open to a Active speakers, consider Sonodyne DAC P1 + SRP 201/202.. Around 60K budget.... You can contact Raghu @ Decibel, Cenotoph road, chennai.. Take a demo...

No idea in Chennai.
But a person is there in coimbatore. If you wish I will PM his contact no. Please speak to him, a very nice person.

When looking for inbuilt DACs in integrated amps please note that most integrates don't feature inbuilt DACs as a standard feature. They are usually add on cards or modules that need to be purchased at an additional cost and can be added. NAD is a classic example. Do keep an eye out for this aspect.
