Finally got Oppo BDP-95 delivered today.

Ordered directly from Oppo using their offline order form and the buying experience was excellent. They answered all my queries which helped me to complete the order.

Ordering process:

1. Send email to the Oppo support.
2. They did send a link to the offline order form.
3. Completed the order form and send them a fax.
4. They completed the order and send it my USPS Express mail on 12th April 2011.
5. Was able to track the shipment using USPS website.
6. The shipment reached Indian customs on 16th April.
7. Went to the customs office in Bangalore (just went there to check whether it is reached and can they clear it.). The postal customs office is located at Museum Road opposite to St. Joseph Boys High School.
8. Provided them with the USPS tracking number as well as copy of invoice. They checked and confirmed that parcel is with them and gave me a local tracking number.
9. They confirmed that it will clear customs on 23rd.
10. From the tracking site could see that it did clear customs on 23rd.
11. Today postman delivered the parcel and collected the custom charges.

Right now connected to my stereo amp and listening to some music. Looks like it needs some burn-in time before sounds good.

Total cost:

Player cost + Calibration disk - $1023.99
Shipping - $146.85
Customs - Rs.7948/-

Now next is am planning to order Emotiva UMC-1 and XPA-5 combo.

Congratulations !!

Very rarely does this forum roll eyes on an expensive purchase that too from Oppo !

Folks, what other option did he have ? Buy a Panasonic BDT100 and give the rest away as charity ?

Congrats,its really high cost.

I was aware of the cost involved. Wanted to buy one of the best source for CD, DVD as well as BD. BDP-93 cost 500$ the additional $500 for BDP-95 is for the DAC used in BDP-95 which is one of the best available today.

To take advantage of the capabilities of BDP-95 one needs an excellent Stereo as well as Home theater setup and it should cost multiples of the cost of the player.

Please do read specs as well as review for BDP-93 / BDP-95 to know the capabilities and to know why it is rated as one of the best player.

The sole reason for joining this forum is to know about great products and I believe good products comes with a cost.

This is an excellent buy. From all reviews available worth every penny. The detail that has gone into the audio stage is amazing. It will be nice to have a detailed feedback after listening to it so that those who are sitting on the fence (like me) on this one can go and splurge...Like the OP said nothing comes free especially when it is built like this Oppo!!! By the way did you look at the mods that are coming this Oppo's way...that is another story..

Cheers

Congratulations.

If one goes by the reviews, you have got an excellent BD player and an excellent CD player at that price.

The Spears and Munsil Disc is good and you should use it to calibrate your display before you start using the player.

How does Oppo with Emotiva UMC-1 / XPA-5 combo sounds in your case? Want to make a choice between Marantz or Emotiva. Currently inclined to order Emotiva based on the review, never heard though.

I already have a stereo integrated amp (Unison research Unico) paired with lovely ProAc studio 140 Mark II floor standing.

Initial impression is it sounds really good from stereo analogue output. I also have a Arcam rDac with HTPC which sounds really good. I need to give some time for Oppo to burn-in before comparing both.

From video perspective again it is really good. Not yet done the calibration. Will update after sometime.

I can get over the UMC1 and we can check out. The UPA 5 is heavier so would be more difficult to lug.

I would say your Oppo has much better analog out than the UMC1, so not sure how you plan to connect it and whether it will degrade the quality of the chain.

I personally prefer the Emo and hence went for it, but the Marantz is a more stable product than the UMC1. The amps are definitely better than the one in the Marantz AVR (if thats what you are looking at).

I was looking to pair marntz av7005 with Emo XPA-5 (procuring XPA-5 looks straight forward). The problem is marnatz Av7005 is not easily available in India and the price quoted was really high compared to SR7005.

Currently I have only 2 proac speakers and is running in stereo mode. I am yet to complete the HT setup with matching center and surround for proac.

I also have a klipsch HT system (RF62, RC62 and RF52) which am planning to sell, but the problem is I do not have a multi channel poweramp to check the UMC-1.

Would it not be simpler for Hassan to bring his Oppo over unless he is very particular about his own room acoustics and other electronics in the chain?

Cheers
