Hathway goes HD in Bangalore??

Nope. I don't think this issue will get sorted out soon. The option that we have is, move to DTH or pay less/don't pay to the cable operator this month.

A strange problem observed now a days..
My HD set top box is connected to AVR via optical cable and STB-HDMI to TV.
If I set audio set up in set-top box as "Dolby" my Denon AVR recognizes as Dolby signal but its center channel (Vocal) sound is missing. But if I change the audio set up in STB as "PCM"- AVR displays stereo signal with vocal. And I can't get 5.1 sound..:(
Previously it was not like that..I was getting perfect 5.1 sound on all Dolby channels via AVR and I have not changed anything..
Anybody facing such problem or am I the only one ?
And how to solve it..? Plz help..

Try following in order

1. Check the audio settings in Denon. it should be in auto mode for surround sound
2. Download and Test from this:
2D High Definition Trailers (HD) - Demo World
Dolby Digital Plus
Dolby TrueHD Channel Check (Lossless)
DTS HD-Master Audio Sound Check 5.1 (Lossless)
3. Reset Denon using manual

Sometime I loose SW channel. When I use those demo HD audio, I get the signal back. But sometime that does not work and I have to go for reset using combination of few buttons on Denon. It works well that way.

Subscribers in dark as channels go missing

www.deccanherald.com: For the past 15 days, the problem of missing channels continues to haunt nearly six lakh subscribers of cable TV who among 25-26 lakh subscribers migrated to digital from analogue cable system in Bangalore following the Centres directive.

Customers signed up to Hathway network, one of the six multisystem operators (MSOs) in the city, are unable to access nearly 40 channels as the provider of those channels MediaPro arbitrarily disconnected them for Hathway for nonpayment of fees.

No time was given to Hathway; we have received a complaint from them about the same about three days ago, but MediaPro is not cooperating with us, said Karnataka State Cable Operators Association President V S Patrick Raju.

Stating that MediaPro has asked Hathway to pay Rs 2.28 crore at Rs 38 per household, Raju said: MediaPro has chosen to target the biggest among the six MSOs operating in the city, as it wants to force others to pay. While making a payment may not be a problem, procedures need to be followed. The MSOs should be given time to gather customer reaction.

Popular channels like Suvarna Entertainment, Asianet, Star Movies and other Star network channels, CNN and National Geographic are among the missing.
Informed sources said a top-level meeting between Hathway and MediaPro was held in Mumbai on Tuesday and added that the problem is likely to be resolved by Wednesday.
Up-link and down-link of channels takes about an hour and the process has already begun following the meeting, they added.

Similarly, Sun-18 another channel provider had last week disconnected many channels, including K TV, Sun TV, Sun Music, Gemini, Udaya etc, to another MSO Kaizen.
Ramu from Kaizen said:?They are charging Rs 40 per household, and we are yet to realise the actual strength of our customer base. We are still importing set-top boxes.
Raju pointed out that the channel providers are not following a uniform policy in disconnecting the channels from all MSOs.

...This is because they fear that there will be an outrage if all the channels go missing. They are targeting one MSO after the other and are not doing it at one go. When one provider is disconnecting channels the others provide their links, and then the other threatens, he said.

Meanwhile my LCO says he expects things to be restored by today evening.
Take this with a pinch of salt :)

Hi All,

considering i have lost considerable money due to voltage surge through hathway cable [two wi fi routers, 50 inch plasma tv, media player, TS hd+ all because i had connected TS to hathway router through the ethernet port of wifi router], what is your advice to protect TVs/routers connected to cables from service providers like hathway (who use co-axial cables) ?
i guess providers who use fiber cables are safer

Yeah, something seems to be going on since last night. A few channels seem to be going blank for a few hours and are getting reshuffled. NG Adv and Travel XP were interchanged for a short while.

If they must sacrifice some channel, hope its CNBC HD.
