Hathway goes HD in Bangalore??

Yep. Same problem here. I think this has also happened with Zee Studio HD a few days ago. Havent checked if that be has been fixed.

I also found similar problem with Zee studio HD in Mumbai..

Is any one facing problem with Star Plus HD when dolby is enabled? There is no sound when dolby is enabled but works fine when PCM is enabled. This is not an issue with other HD channels.

I have observed the same problem with other channels also in Mumbai..Don't understand what could be the reason..:sad::sad:

That is awesome news, Gopi! My HD subscription ended about 2 weeks back and I havent renewed it yet as I wanted to see how digitization affected pricing and channel addition.

Hope they add some of the better HD channels and not just the tamil HD channels.

Edit: They havent added Star Sports 2 nor Ten Action and a few other channels which have been missing on Hathway right from the start. Wonder if that will change anytime soon.

What are other possible HD channels available in India, I thought every HD is channel is available in Hathway except LifeOK. (other than crap DTH owned channels)

Analogue transmission has been stopped from the past few days on Hathway.

My HD box went Kaput due to some issue and so was on analog till I received the replacement.
Still waiting for it. But Operator says there is a shortage and promises get it by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, as analogue is now down, he has enabled my older SD set top box as a standby.

the problem is that news leaks out early and it takes really long time to get those channels. I am excited to watch new HD channels and wait is killing me now :lol:

I too am eagerly awaiting some of the newer HD channels, especially the Nat Geo channels. Although I have my doubts about whether Nat Geo Music is a true HD channel. I've also read that this channel is now defunct in many places across the world.

As for analog switch off, I'm stunned to see that the channel News 9 (basically, the english version of the kannada news channel TV9) is still available in analog! It appears that this is the only channel still available in analog. Can anyone else confirm the same?

Anyone know if I can get an HD STB from some other LCO and set it up in my home and it will be all right? A different LCO from mine (both on Hathway) is charging 5K for an HD STB and mine is asking 6.25K. So I thought of getting the box from the other LCO. As long as CAS is not operation, will I be able to get away by not getting the box from my cable guy.

I guess it is possible. Buy directly from Hathway office. You will just have to pay Rs4500 if you buy from them. This includes HD box + 1 year HD subscription. You will need to pay your LCO like how you are paying now for SD channels

My LCO is asking 6200/-. As suggested by you if I buy directly from Hathway for 4500/-, who will activate the service? I guess it has some card which needs to be activated for HD subscription. If this needs to be done by LCO, he would not agree unless i again pay HD subscription.

Guess Hathway is loosing lot of customer due to this non-uniform pricing policy.

If you buy from Hathway directly, they will do the activation for you. Make sure they do the activation for you.

LCO can't do any activation - I guess they would not know how to

Currently I think all SD and HD channels carried by Hathway are activated, pending CAS being implemented by Hathway. So you will get everything if you just get the HD STB. Only issue is that if the LCO gets to know that you didn't get the STB from him (paying him the premium) he might physically disconnect your cable pending payment of his "rent".

Home Shop 18 added on number 8. But think a few channels have been removed in the last couple of weeks. Not sure which though...
