Hathway goes HD in Bangalore??

Where do i get the list of channels offered and monthly price of hathway channels.

Where do i get comparative pricing of DishTV,VideoCon and Hathway and which is the best.
I am looking for cheap and best entertainment on my ST television(29inch).
Pls suggest.

Gopi, you've probably noticed a message coming on several channels asking Digital Addressable Cable subscribers to submit a form listing the channels they wish to subscribe to. Any idea about what this is about? I havent heard of any such request for subscribers in metros.

Thanks. I've asked around on several forums and threads about the effect that digitization has had in metros but no one has bothered to respond. Do u know if there has been any good outcome regarding quality or cost so far?

As far as the channels are concerned more channels have been added. They get about 270 odd SD channels. Cost wise some people have to pay more if they want all the channels. Before digitization, every one was getting all the channels and the price was different in different areas(just like Bangalore). Now that they have different DAS packages, some areas have to shell out more to get all the channels.
Quality wise there is no difference I guess.

Hi,
Thanx for all the members on this thread. I went for Hathway HD reading this thread and I am happy for it. I paid Rs4800 for HD Box and 1 yrs subscription to HD Channels. Additionally I will be paying Rs250/month for other channels. I have connected it using HDMI to my panasonic P42x20d plasma TV.
I know this is not the right thread , but just suggest me a budget 5.1 HT system around 10k. I currently have Philips DVD Player and Altec Lansing ATP3 2.1 attached to my TV. Planning to shift current speakers to computer and add 5.1 for my TV. cant strech budget much .
Thanks again to all especially to Gopichand pai.

Sorry bro but as far as i know, because there are no analog 5.1 connections in any STB, the least expensive 5.1 system for an HD STB will come at roughly 20K. Logitech z960 (with optical and coaxial in) or Yamaha 196 HT package (With HDMi as well) are the starting options.

There is another option possible though. Get any cheap PC based analog 5.1 speakers and use a optical to 5.1 analog convertor box. This wud mean more interconnections and more wires, probably loss of quality in the process but it should happen way below or within your budget of 10K.

On a standalone basis for max simplicity of hooking up an HT, Logitech and Yamaha models above are the only options.

Thanks @htfan17 for the info. After looking at lot of options even I have decided to postpone and go for HT later

Majority of channels is blank in hathway now! feels like throwing the set top box away :p

By my last check (about 5 days ago) Star, Zee, NDTV, Ten, Nat Geo & Fox Traveler were gone, as well as some of their HD counterparts.

You mean more channels have gone off?

I'll certainly consider paying less for this month (if at all) if this continues much longer.

Digitization my foot!

It is due to payment issues with channel distributors. They are asking for huge money to renew the contract. They are looking for more money per subscriber it seems. Hathway has also registered a case in court yesterday.

Yes all of us should pay less to cable operator this month.

Yes, Hathway has to fight for all channels and give good competition to TS, Airtel and others. They need the Set top box revolution without reducing the price.
