Need your help. I had contacted the Hathway service center in Bangalore and they said that they do not provide direct service in my area(Banaswadi-Horamavu) and that we need to contact the local cable operator who provides Hathway and they do not have the cable operators information.
Does any one know who is the cable operator in Banaswadi area who provides Hathway , any contact details would be helpful.

Call 08025423678 or 08025456172(Kammanahalli hathway number) and they should be able to give you the cable operator's contact number.

I had called this number a couple of days back and they didn't have the contact details or name of the cable operator. They just mentioned its near Banaswadi bus stand. I did a search there and couldn't locate.

Hi, I just got my Hathway STB upgraded to HD and have connected to my Panasonic PV 8, without a doubt the HD channels are real treat to watch. I do have a problem though, since i made the switch all the SD channels have started showing up in 4:3 format and its a real irritant. I have checked the settings in both the TV and the STB but the life of me i can't seem to fix this issue. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks much.

Press menu button --> Press the red button to enter the setting mode ----->select system setup option---->enter 0000 as the pin code----->select installation setup----->select TV setup----->go to the option "On receiving 4:3 input video" and change the value to "FIT TO SCREEN" and press the BLUE BUTTON to save the changes

Yep, thats the way to do it on the STB.

This should also be possible to do on your TV. It will almost certainly have a setting called Aspect Ratio where you can choose whether you want 4:3 or 16:9 amongst others.

My personal opinion is that most 4:3 channels, especially news channels, look terrible when stretched to 16:9. The presenters look bloated and the picture looks unnatural and slightly blurry. Also, most channels show programs that are letter-boxed 16:9 format. This makes it look like a distorted 21:9 image. Just my opinion...

When I Hathway, they said that the HD Settop box is 4500 with 1 year of HD. However, my cable operator (Tirumala in HSR) says that it will cost 6200. Why is there a difference?

Today I have connected Denon 1713 AVR to STB-Hathway HD box as follows:
HDMI from STB to TV and from Hathway STB- SPDIF-optical cable to Denon optical input..Now problem is that on every channel I get sound from center speaker only..Don't know where it went wrong..? Plz help..Otherwise every unit is working fine..DVD player,Laptop etc gives perfect 5.1 sound..On Denon while selecting CBL/SAT button it shows dolby symbol and displays Prologic CBL..

Update: I forgot to change Audio from PCM to Dolby in Hathway Hd Box..After changing it to Dolby it gives 5.1 sound but when I change it Dolby, sound from TV gets muted.. :-( So, every time I wish to see movie/HD Channel on AVR I have to change audio setting in Hathway HD box..Is it So..? plz share your experience..

Please enable the Optical Cable option on the Denon-AVR (CD, VCR, AUX TV Etc).

i have already assigned the HDMI to optical for set-top box in Denon AVR..but the problem is - if I switch off Denon AVR , can't get sound on my LG TV on HD channels..

The Hathway watermark has been removed from all channels. Wonder if it'll remain that way...

I'm sure most of you noticed that we got messages on the STB regarding up gradation work sometime in the last 2 weeks. Any idea what was upgraded and is it of any benefit to consumers?

I ditched Hathway and moved to Tata Sky as I felt that it is better value overall, I get HD DVR, which is just not an option on Hathway. In addition, you can get value added features like Showcase and Video On Demand. The only downside is the price, cable is definitely cheaper, especially if you have multiple TVs (though with the impending digitization, that advantage is going to get a lot smaller).

In a way, I feel that it is a sad state of affairs, cable is inherently such a technically superior medium with the ability to offer a whole lot more, but has been hobbled by a horrible policy and environment. The world over, cable is winning over DTH, but India must be one of the few countries where DTH is eating cable's lunch.

Is any one facing problem with Star Plus HD when dolby is enabled? There is no sound when dolby is enabled but works fine when PCM is enabled. This is not an issue with other HD channels.
