Heartfelt pics of ST50 -- After 200 Hours :-(

I do see banding when I play breakin slides. It is more prominent with green slide. But is this not kind of expected and all ST/GT owners have this problem ?. There is another thread which talks about this banding.. so I am under the impression that it is normal.

I do not see this banding either with while/black scroll or normal viewing.

White black bar looks dirty on 50 percent of the screen...guess no other user faced this....

lcdfreak this is the first i have seen to... you need to get this replaced with the Pana guys and you may have to take the long road... hold your ground and ask for a replacement.... As rightly stated in another post no need to be rude but stand your ground. Follow the escalation protocols and my last resort would be to write to Daizo Ito - President - Panasonic India Pvt. Ltd.(PI) [Not sure if you are willing to go that far- I would]

Thanks guys. This is a replaced plasma only and las replacement route was pathetic with going upto highest level.

This set is just a month old and I had doubts from week one and registered a complaint.

First engineer had never seen any such things and second suggested the same. However, second took images and compared it with other sets and agreed other sets don't have it.

My only concern is I already had a big debate about first set replacement now again..lol

Not repeatable on X30. Looks like this is only for the *50 models. I will try to see on an X50 sometime in the next few days.

Please do see and share images. I can send slides if need be.

Intent is so say guys none of your tv got one so why my tv.

Pana tech gave standard answer: We saw this for first time. This is a replacement set as last had panel issues including dead pixel.

They are showing as if I played with panel.

Now to come back to you points:

1. White bands are on all color slides. On green and blue its easier to identify.

2. Significant banding while watching soccer.

Banding exist for sports on all settings say even if settings are on 30's or 90's...Severity is different though
Hell man , at least 4-5 bands on TV all over....

Hi lcdfreak
A very sorry state of a consumer. I can only wish you get your problem solved quickly. While you can wait for the owners of ST50 to post their pictures, I have a question on what the Panasonic engineer observed and said - "seeing for the first time". If he has observed that he was seeing the bands for the first time, then is it not his very observation clearly indicate to him that your set is faulty ? What does it mean otherwise ? If he hasn't seen it before, then it can only point to the fact that the TV panel is faulty.
Hope some common sense prevails with those service engineers.

Well he later said I don't see it would cause problem in future..my point was due it is already causing problem .

Note that I asked both to give a written report that they saw
Lines on panel and nothing else rest I will do. They refused. What a shame.

As my last tv was replaced it seems they are treating this as a planted thing,,crap holy crap...

I have 42UT50D. pl check my posting : http://www.hifivision.com/televisio...0-2012-model-owners-thread-18.html#post428597

While my concern was for IR, I also noticed some banding, especially in Green & Blue color in the EA break-in slides. My settings all the while are Contrast = 35, Brightness = 0, Color=35, under Normal mode. These days have been more careful in watching; but didnt get a chance to re-evaluate the status. The view is completely normal during routine TV serials. I remember reading somewhere, there is something known as Temporary IR, which goes off automatically within next few hours of normal usage.

I will again try to check and report my observations. hopefully, there should be no abnormal banding or IR !

btw, on that thread, I remember not anyone replying to my concern !

It is difficult to determine what to contribute on such threads except perhaps expressing sympathy and concern. From what I have read, this is a generic fault with the panel. I will definitely post pictures soon but will those pics be accepted as period for/against Panasonic?

Looks like a panel problem to me. They should have readily agreed to replace the panel. What's the use of Panasonic's 3 years warranty if they are not good at customer care and are not ready to accept obvious defects? Afterall, warranty is for peace of mind.

If it's bothering you while watching actual TV contents, you should not hesitate to again escalate it to the highest level possible if needed. As other friends have suggested, be polite and be firm.

This is unfortunately not generic given the extent. Faint edges are pretty much acceptable on a single color say green or grey.

However, 50% of Back-white bar is dirty, there are 4-5 bands across screen visible on colors like Blue, Red & Green.

Then, add to this Xt50 was spotless and 65VT was clear as well.

You have always been of help mate, always a thumbs up to you.

Today morning I ran the Black-n-white scroll bar for half-minute, but didnt find the screen dirty. the white bar was white.

for these colors - are your using the EA break-in slides to check ?

as I said earlier, I also did see some random vertical banding on blue & more on green solid slides. the band colors were like different shade of the green/blue itself, but surely no other color mixing, or solid geometric lines. since it doesnt affect any normal view, I parked the matter.

Thanks buddy...whats key is white bar being white which was the case with my last plasma too.

Here its like its travelling through a pool of dust....Called engineer to come and capture a video

Well missed to add, while watching sony HD and Star Movies HD, I captured multiple cases where a scene with light shades of Gray or Specially Green was badly posterized.

Engineer said thats due to signal, well had no argument then.

However, later noticed this posterization happends only at places where screen is dirty on white bar.

Thought of sharing this bit as well....

Re: Additional Information: Heartfelt pics of ST50 -- After 200 Hours :-(

Now I played online videos from Pana Viera Connect and Posterisation was all over again. Now what defense is left with Panasonic Engineer?

Thought of sharing this bit as well...

Now time for action ...

I'm sure Panasonic engineer knows there's a problem with the TV. They are just trying to avoid replacement or refund.

I suggest not to deal directly with the engineeer anymore, send screenshots to Panasonic's customer care email id.

I always thought that Panasonic is a good model to go for but this thing have completely changed my perception for panasonic.
