Please see Gear List and Draft Demo schedule worked out in discussion with Denom. Request your suggestions /comments to finalize it. Due to lack of time, the demo related to AVR comparison and Floorstander comparison have been left out of Schedule.

I think we have good mix of Entry-level to Mid-level gear, that most folks like us can hope to acquire sometime in life. So this is going to be good exposure for all of us :licklips:

DEMO SCHEDULE

Going by past experience, we will end up using at least 25% more time than what is calculated above. So its going to be a long meet. OTOH suggestions to reduce duration are welcome.

15 minutes demo for each set-up is an insult & unfair practice to deduce a fair idea on the components of a set-up. If you are not interested in hearing something, you may go out & come back later. I for one would like to hear a certain component(speaker/amp/source) of a particular set-up with another one, mix'n match to get a better idea of certain aspects. Suggest we let the decided schedule continue as is.

I think Jams suggested 15 mins as a time-saving option only*... though I agree the 20 min limit is bare min reqd for basic judgement of SQ. In 20 mins we can roughly test 4 songs of 4 genres /complexity @ 5 mins approx for each song.... I agree with reducing the no of Integrated amps to be compared , to save time, as one member has suggested. Request others to chip in with ideas, no matter how silly it may sound

*Unless someone gets really good "brew" :licklips: I don't think anybody would be interested in going anywhere away from the speakers :lol::lol:

We URGENTLY need Leaders (and volunteers as support to leaders) to manage following aspects of the meet-event... hardly two days left for preparations..

1. LEADER AND VOLUNTEER REQD FOR CABLES & CONNECTING GEARS: (manage availability and connection of cables /IC's, power-extension-box, etc. as per Demo schedule)

2. LEADER AND VOLUNTEER REQD FOR FOOD ARRANGEMENT: (incl fund collection on arrival, ordering, seating arrangement, bill settlement etc.)

3. LEADER AND VOLUNTEER REQD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY: (no explanation reqd!)

Kindly chip in with where you would like to contribute asap.

4. As of now Denom is assigned as LEADER FOR AUDITION-NOTES COMPILATION (Taking notes on spontaneous changes during demo (like cable exchange, songs played) + comments received from members reg SQ of demo)

5. I am assigned as LEADER FOR DEMO SCHEDULE (running the show as per demo schedule based on gear that is available on time (remember...this time we can't delay demo because someone is late). LEADER will also plan post-demo sessions for equipment arriving late (If time remains after demos)

Viki and the other organisors : please do let us know of alternate parking spaces, as not only will we have about 10 to 20 vehicles, other Society members too would have guests. Perhaps you could ask the Security / Society to allow as a special case double parking or in absent member parking spaces for the day ?
Alternatively, perhaps Forum members attending can "car pool" depending from which part of the city they are travelling from.

I could pick up anyone from Kalyaninagar/Koregaon Park / Ghorpadi area ....or may someone from Vimannagar could join up : perhaps we can designate "pick up / meet up" spots ?

I can pickup anyone from Kothrud Paud Road / MIT college area (even karvenagar etc. with a convenient pickup point)

Please note : I am absolutely thrilled about the meet (my first) and planning to stay till the end. Unfortunately am on a 'standby' for some other responsibility so MAY have to start back LATE EVE.

I am sure the decision about the common tracks to be played may be in the final stages..

My 2 cents (please feel free to ignore if already finalized) :

There is an excellent track I would like to suggest :

Album/film : Meenaxi
Music : A. R. Rehman
Track : Potter's Village

Why it's an ideal track for our purpose :

* Beautiful mix of instruments (brass, non-traditional / non-musical instruments, bass guitar), rhythm patterns
* Good frequency range (goes jazzy/abstract at times)
* Duration only 2:28 mins (so can be played twice if needed in some cases)

There is enough parking for 10-15 guest vehicles near my building, and more near adjacent buildings, but the car pools is a great idea anyway.
