Directors who look at making films like Houseful and Tees Maar Khan are looking at making films which they think would work with the audience who watches bollywood films at large. They aren't really concerned whether their films are good or bad. They want their films to earn a lot of money and that's it.
I was watching an interview of Anurag Kashyap who said he is now learning the art of making his films financially viable slowly. He said he would make films the way he wants them though.
The logic of escapism just doesn't work where I am concerned. For instance, if you really want to see a comedy film, there are some hilarious ones out there. I don't see what delight you can get from a film which has people screaming all the time.
