Home theater under 75k

Hey, as I mentioned, the BAs work very well with the Onkyo AVR which is 100w RMS.
Before I answer your questions, I'd like to give you a little information. The BAs, Denon, Marantz (and formerly Onkyo) are all the brands by the same owners (D&M). Hence, they gel very well together. The Marantz AVRs are costly just because they produce slimline products. But if you club BAs with Denon or Onkyo, they'll deliver wonderful sound. So, I guess, Onkyo + BA S combo will be a better match than the Pioneer one. Last I'd checked, Onkyo 414 AVR was available at 28k (MRP 42k) at Reliance Digital, Chembur, Mumbai. If you can grab that, it'll be a very good buy and will fit in your budget as well.
Now, your constrains. Even I suffer from the same constrain. What I did is, I took a couple of days off, went to Pune and Mumbai, and checked out all the dealers and various HTs and AVR combos. And that helped me a lot. Even I'm new to the hifi world, and had very little knowledge of the systems. But this trip helped me in understanding what I like and what I don't. Each speaker-AVR combo will sound different and it is upto you to decide which clicks you.

Speak to Imran, he'll tell you if he can ship the products. When I'd enquired, he had agreed to do that. I've not ordered yet though. And he'll give you the best deal in the market. Also, if you agree not to take the bill, you can get an additional 12% discount as well.
Hope this helps. I've PMed you his contact details.

Regards,
Ajinkya.

I would vote for Pioneer 323 and Pioneer Andrew Jones line for this budget. Will perform better for music than the Boston. And as good if not better for movies. Though the Marantz 1504+BA deal at Reliance is very good as well, if you're willing to spend 75 go for bigger drivers.

Thank you all,
A very special thanks to Ajinkya for sending me the contact info of imran, i will get in touch with him tomorrow. I do have the option to audition pioneer speakers will check them out,
Like i said im in cochin so i wont be able to travel all the way to mumbai for this.
I have checked profx their prices seem sky high, and i wont be able to spent the entire 75k on avr and speakers the max is 70 for speakers and avr combo coz i need the 5k to add a basic blu ray player. i did find the pioneer htp r2v and htp rs43 here in cochin will check them out.
Once again thank you everyone for helping me out, u all could give suggestions of avr+speakers for 70k, i would be highly appreciated

Regards,
Sujith

i did hear the pioneer htp 823mk2 today have to say i was very much disappointed with the performance, the clarity of the system was no way near what you would get in a 10k speaker setup, dont know if the settings were all over the place the guy who showed it to me had no clue what he was doing

and what do u think about the combo of wharfdale moviestar 65+ and denon x1000(62.6k) are the wharfdales better than BA soundware S 5.1??

I would suggest you to build your setup one by one first avr and floor standing speaker and then invest on rest of the things . Marantz + wharfedale and denon + wharfedale both are very good combination also you can go for denon + Polk audio tsi series .

Hi sujithblaze the problem with most ppl doing Pioneer demos are looking at the RS-xx models or the mk823 model. Have you auditioned the Andrew Jones series? These would be miles apart. Trust me, I was blown away by the difference in quality.

Hi Sujithblaze,

Profx mumbai is offering Denon X 500 + Heco ambiente 5.1 = 65 K and if you go with Denon X1000 the cost of packge is 75 K. Installation is free .

How come that much difference , I think you once again confirm with them, May be some error .

and like some of you have mentioned about the andrew jones speaker systems, i did read very good reviews about the speakers but all the reviews seems to say that sub is the weakest link in the setup which is a disappoint for me, coz i love deep bass

Hi Sujithblaze,

Wharferdale Moviestar 65+ or 70 combined with Yamaha RX V-377/477 sound good.

Also Wharfedale MS 100 HCP is worth a look

just checked with xeness cochin and they told me that they could do the pioneer andrew jones 5.1 system for 45k

thanks Smokerulz,
i did consider the Wharfedale at one point, but i guess the andrew jones tops them in every department, and also the freq response of the subwoofer is rater at 40hz, which is a bit on the higher side for me , i do love bass real deep, i havent heard them personally so going by just the numbers on paper they seem weak to me, but hey i might be totally wrong, thats why i urge all the members in the forum to contribute their valuable thoughts, since my auditioning scope is very much limited out here in cochin

Kind Regards,
Sujith

Look, going by your room size @ 14' x 10' (that is small!) your choice becomes very limited, IF performance is what you are after. ONLY satellite system would do justice, IMHO. Quit going by what is written in the specs on 'printed' paper. Go, listen first hand! Audition, audition and audition with whatever is the choice available at your place of stay.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Pioneer AVRs. The 5-series is good enough. I have heard one at an FM's place with Wharf Moviestar 70+, and they sounded great with music as well as movies.

If possible, could you list down the wares physically available at Cochin ... speaker and AVR choices, with their approx. quoted rates ? Maybe, we would able to end your 'confused state' once and for all !

thanks ghatgepatil,
now im thinking of getting the andrew jones sp fs52 towers with a pioneer vsx523kor a denon x1000 and that would cost me either 48k or 55k resp and planning to add a sub woofer later, or i would get a andrew jones 5.0 speaker set which would cost me 37k and add a vsx 523k(27k) or denon x1000(34k), and then when my budget permits i would get a sub woofer, like i said the demo's available in cochin are very very few, only profx had a demo setup, i did a demo of denon x1000 with polk rm6750 5.1 system, found that the satellites were impressive but the sub woofer was really disappointing, or i would get the BA soundware S 5.1 with the vsx 523k for 57k, i dont think the BA's can match andrew jones considering the fact that they are just 2 way satellite with a 89mm woofer and a .75inch tweeter, andrew jones from the demo's that i got from youtube has good bass even without a sub. the ones that i have listened includes a pioneer 823mkii system (worst) such a waste of money for 64k jbl scs140/230 5.1 with HK 151 avr, sub is good but the speakers are too bright

regards,
Sujith

Hey Sujith,
I think you will be happy with the SP52 line, also considering the room size, you may go for the bs22x4+ c22 combo, will turn out very good too, and save some more money for a better subwoofer and probably a marantz avr.
