Home Theatre below 25k - Group Buy

^^^
Does the Harman Kardon you are offering does DTS Master Audio and Dolby Tru HD ? 3D Capable ?

BTW another update:
I've been toiling hard to work out the best deal and here is another piece of information for you guys.
We have another option of letting go another 500 bucks off the price, if we choose not to opt for the HDMI cable. So that translates to 22500/- for the pickup. Still better since the HDMI cables can be bought at 300 max from nehru place/palika bazaar or even ebay.

Also it was told to me that every buyer will be assisted by the Onkyo guys, for the system setup.

The token money has been agreed upon as 5K and the rest needs to be paid while taking the delivery. The ETA at this point in time is 10days.

Also for the list of interested candidates, I've received PM only from RayBan.

So are you guys in ?

At moment the list is :
1) Vasishta.sushant
2) RayBan

@jsanand, gadgetcrazy and guptam
What about you guys ? Are you in ?

Thanks for the PM Sushant.I do not have much idea about Harman Kardon. May be some experts can help here. I am interested more in 3300 because I have heard good reviews from most people here. I am still in two minds whether I should get myself a HTIB or Get an AVR (thinking of Denon 1311 at this time) and build my HT.
I am sorry for that.
Sushant can you please reach me again when you finalise this deal. Or if I finalise before that I will get in touch with you.

The Harman Kardon will be either 133 or 134. Both ways, that system is seriously crumbled. It sounds good but too less power, too less features. Not even HD audio decoding. I don't think it stands anywhere compared to the value this Onkyo system is offering.

I was also in two minds. Getting a HTiB or get the components individually. But the cost advantage really put me in line with the HTiB way.

In fact I even bought Polk Audio TSi300 for 18K and later wanted to buy the Polk Audio CS10 (center Channel) and PSW110 subwoofer. Wanted to buy Yamaha RX467/Onkyo 508/Denon 1611 or Pioneer 902.

A deeper thought showed me that the price at which I'll be getting only the center channel and the subwoofer, I can buy the whole setup. With the individual selection I would have to pay nearly 30-40K more. Yes, I'd have got a better system but the Value For Money factor is terribly insane with the 3300. The sub is pretty decent, a terrific AVR, nice center channel. Thats all I wanted.

I'll anyway remove the rear channels of my 3300. Move the stock front channels to the back and the front channels will be handled by my Polk Audio TSi300 floorstanders. A decent system in less than 40K.

Even in the stock conditions, the system is very very good, as reported by many reviews.

Sure I'll let you know if we work out a deal. With less people, I do not think it'll be possible to attain that price. (In that case we'll have to get the systems shipped from Coimbtore).

How good is the avr in terms of upgradability? Say a year or two down the line I decide to get better speakers, will the Avr be good enough?

Indeed. As I told I've already bought a great pair of floor standers (google for Polk Audio TSi300).

The only impediment is the Subwoofer is passive. That would not be upgradeable. But I guess with the power it packs, its good enough for a home setup.

Updating the final list:
1) Vasishta.sushant
2) RayBan
3) Jsanand
4) Gadgetcrazy

I'll be going to meet the dealer tomorrow and will be booking up four pieces for the above listed folks.

If anyone wants to chip in, please do so ASAP.

I am still waiting for Mr Gupta's response. If he happens to read it, please respond.

Another issue that we found was about the payment of the token amount. I've decided to pay to the dealer myself, on the behalf of all of you guys. You all can pay me later, when we'll go to pickup the stuff.

Alright made the payment of 22.5K to the seller and booked 5 pieces for we 5 guys.

He'll be updating me in a while about the exact delivery date since the Onkyo regional manager was little busy.

I'll be updating the final details once I get the complete information.

Additionally I bought a 100ft roll of 18AWG OFC Speaker wire from Acoustic Research. Will be replacing the stock speaker wires with this better cable.

Will you be soldering the ends of the aftermarket wires before plugging in to receiver and speakers or normal twisting action on the threads will do ???
thanks !
