How to play mkv file on Sony Bravia LED tv-a guide

hi lake bro ...i want to know it is possible to play 3D movies using DLNA Streaming

If your tv can play 3D video from usb it can play 3D from any media server.
Video is just a stream...while transporting it using media server it doesn't check if it'a a 3D or 2D video.

Hi there,

I have the following issues:
I have a lot of movies on a NAS (DLNA). They contain video (mostly full HD) and several audio tracks (different languages). They have different formats. I can convert it to whatever is necessary (don't even mind if it takes weeks...). However, I tried your suggestions and everything worked just fine, except the audio. I mostly hear something that sounds like russian (no, I did not download any of the movies. I own all the DVD/BD, just have them copied to my NAS for convenience). How can I switch languages using my TV remote? Pressing AUDIO switches to something other sounding like russian (don't meant to offend anyone, just can't identify the language...). I did not find french, english, etc...

tsmuxer shows me the correct languages and I can play/switch them fine with VLC on my PC. So what's up with the TV?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

DVD/99

That Audio button is not for switching audio of file playing from USB drive. It's for enabling mono/stereo/dual audio of the stream currently showing in tv.
If you want to hear only english language at the time of muxing select only english audio and deselect other audio language...then mux it.

hmmm, I guess it actually does work this way. I did some further research and figured out that it only plays AC3 sound not DTS. All missing audio is DTS. Can tsmuxer also convert DTS to AC3?

BTW, looks like you do a great job in supporting. Thanks for that, man. Keep it up!

Thanks to lake1988. Before reading your thread I purchased Sony Bravia KDL 32NX650 model, I did not know it is not playing .mkv, .vob files and frustrated. I have a great collection of good movies(downloaded through torrent) in my 320GB seagate extl. hdd and DVDs in .mkv container..after failed to play these movies through usb I noticed your thread and changed the container .mkv to .mt2s (very little time required as explained), now these movies are playing all its splendid quality in my best Bravia Sony LED TV(I hate other brand TVs, and no compromise in inferior technology TVs). Now I have to format the Seagate HDD and will try to play play videos in bravia usb port.
Many thanks dear.

In ps3 muxer audio is automatically changed if required which can run on bravia tv. Is there any disadvantage in using ps3muxer over tsMuxer ? Just want to know as lot of mkv files have dts audio which also needs to be changed.
And how can we watch mov file from canon camera.....do we have to encode it again in mp4

As the audio is dts so it is unable to play the sound...u need to convert dts track to dolby digital track.
Here is a good app to do that...

Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/?c6ky6wglh0n930z
http://www.mediafire.com/?gnn2ncqtwseqxhf
These are hd stream extractor and dolby digital encoder. Download and extract both of them in a folder..then click on HdBrStreamExtractor.exe and add your mkv file. Then click on features and u can see all the tracks i.e avc video track and dts audio track.
Now just check only the dts audio track and from dropdown list of extract as select AC3...and then click on extract.

Your dolby digital audio will be extracted in destination folder.

Now just follow the instruction in the first post..just add your dolby file which has an extension .ac3 and uncheck the dts audio in tsmuxer. After muxing it will be playable in bravia.

BTW all the problems you guys are mentioning..I've already encountered..so I had to come up with a solution..though I use my bluray players to playback mkvs.

ps3muxer uses tsmuxer for transcoding mkv to m2ts and use ffmpeg for converting dts to ac3.

But for audio conversion I suggest eac3to which is better in handling HD audios.

Just see the post before this one.

For mov files--(not sure what's audio codec is)
load to mkvmerge gui-->convert to mkv-->see the post before-->load to hd stream extractor-->convert audio to AC3/dolby digital-->now mux using tsmuxer.
First try to load straight to tsmuxer..check if audio is coming or it's eliminating the audio.

I too notice audio quality bit deteriorate by ps3 muxer.

Regarding codec of mov files...

Try to load it to tsmuxer straight..then if audio doesn't load/muxed m2ts has no sound while playing back from tv then follow the method I mentioned in the last post.

Is there way to get .srt or some other title format to play with .m2ts on Bravia?

I tried converting .srt file to other formats, but none of them is playable with .m2ts.

Subtitles are working with .avi without problems...

Hi lake1988, Thanks for the guide.. I tried to mux a few of my .mkv files. However, I get the following error for almost all the files:

Reading buffer overflow. Possible container streams are not syncronized. Please, verify stream fps

Could you please help?

Found answare in older posts... Hope that there will be some update in a future, that will allow .srt and .m2ts to work together.

I had problems with DHT, and found PS3Muxer in lake1988 posts, and it is fantastic! You saved me a lot of time searching only for .mkv with AC3.:ohyeah:

Thanks for making life easier for other Bravia users.:D

I actually mentioned why srt file won't work with .m2ts files before in this post.
To play any subtitle file you need an authoring file like .clps and .inf...which should also be recognized by tv as well.
Now generally tvs don't recognize those file..only few dedicated media player can do such thing.

Also try to avoid PS3muxer to convert audio file to AC3.
I have given two links in previous posts for hdstream extractor and eac3to plugin..use those two to convert audio to AC3. It results better audio quality than PS3muxer.

what we should do to improve the quality of the sound after converting the mkv file to m2ts format when played in sony bravia led tv? I think if we use AV receiver it will be good but its too costly any another options available or while converting the file if we edit anything in muxer is it possible? Sameway subtitles are also not played in tv is that possible??
Thanks in advance.

Joined this forum to get reply from Lake1988 & u have a very gud skills in this area.

If we buy sony BD player is it possible to play all files specifically mkv formats in it through hard disk? which will avoid conversion of mkv files to m2ts files.. :)
