Hi

I already have an AE5 + Asus Xonar DX for music (might in fact be adding a sub soon too).

So I am not concerned with music, in fact, the system I buy I want it to be not as good as my above setup. :P

My family might be buying a HT (for me and them :D)) and I am mainly concerned with movies.

How is this setup? Is it the best for the buck?

Mission MV8 5.1 18k
Marantz NR1501 30k

In we can't afford the Marantz, in that case we will either go for a Harman Kardon 5.1 for like 20k or Yamaha 397/465 or Denon 1311.

What do you guys suggest?

Two receivers I have in mind, to cut down the budget:

Pioneer
Sherwood

How are these?

Are you getting the MV8 package (with the towers, centre, MS8 sub,
rear BS) all for 18k?.

The MV8 towers seem to be power hungry, I bought those recently
and my AVR goes to protect mode every time I try to increase the
volume. So audition the combination before you buy.

My AVR options:

Pioneer VSX-820-K Audio/Video Receiver About 18-19k
Pioneer VSX-920-K Audio/Video Receiver About 20-22k
Marantz NR1501 30k
Yamaha RX-V465BL 525 Watt 5-Channel Home Theater Receiver 19-20k
Yamaha RX-V365BL 500 Watt 5-Channel Home Theater Receiver 15k
Harman Kardon AVR-154 5x30W 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver 15k

I would rather not buy the Marantz because of its high price. I want to stick to the 15-20k region.

Hi

Considering buying a new HT with a budget of around 35-45k approx. Want something higher than Philips/Sony/Onkyo etc.

Main usage is movies with some music. Need not be phenomenal but must be the best bang for buck.

I have decided to allocate 15-20k on the receiver and the same amount on the speakers. If there is a good deal available, I can extend the speakers to 25k+.

Currently I have in mind:

RECEIVER

1. Harman Kardon AVR 154 (15k)
Amazon.com: Harman Kardon AVR-154 5x30W 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver: Electronics

2. Harman Kardon AVR1600 (25k)
Amazon.com: Harman Kardon AVR1600 High Performance, 50W X 7, 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver with Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Decoding (Black): Electronics

3. Yamaha 465 (20k)
Bass n Treble

Most likely it will be either 1 or 3 as 2 is sort of out of budget.

How about Q Acoustics, Energy, Infinity, Klipsch etc?

Can't afford Marantz/NAD etc and can't go for assembling with Wharf 9.1 etc because then the budget crosses 50-60k+. Don't need to upgrade in the future either. This is for the family HT and not for my personal use, so it won't be upgraded either. So if we buy 2.0 now then it would never become a 5.1 because the total budget ever is what is available right now.

To cut it short, what is the best possible speaker (5.1) + receiver combination possible in approximately 40k INR?

Btw guys, I have added another 5k from shopyourworld.com for customs. Customs + shipping will probably be 5-8k over the price mentioned in the links.

Warm Regards
