Since my last post, I've raised the budget slightly. So here are two contenders and my experiences with them in different rooms with very different acoustics:

PSB Imagine T6: Clean music, good imaging, clear mids and just right highs. Adequate bass for most songs, but lacking in Rock & Techno (thats what i hear most)
KEF Q700 (I couldn't find Q900 to audition yet): Superb imaging and sound stage, horribly sounding bass, clear mids, warm highs which i tend to like.

I can add woofer later but Q700's ugly bass turns me down and I won't be able to ignore it. I guess Q900 would do better with bass with those 8" drivers.

Anyone auditioned Q900 & T6?

p.s. Not a bass freak. Great mids and high is what i crave for but bad bass can turn me down.

You can also try Monitor Audio RX6 .... superb speakers with excellent bass

Excellent bass isn't my top priority. I like the Mid and highs on Q700 that's why I wanted to hear about Q900 where Q700 was lacking.

Plus, I don't get too many options to chose from in my City (Delhi, India). If anyone knows where can I find those speakers, that would help.

in delhi i think you should find what you are looking for. Imagine the plight of guys in say Kota or interior Maharashtra !!

Do not judge bass by the driver size... sometimes being big is not the solution

;-))

i would urge you to have another dekko at the T6 or the T5 and also at the Tannoy DC6T.

The Tannoy V4's are also quite good but i dont know if they will rock your boat.

Basically you want everything and thats one aspect of the problem. There is no speaker that does everything well..

Look for something that does most part well and tweak with placements etc.. to get it just right.

I observe your room size is about 10 by 11 and you will encounter reflections etc.. to deal with. You have mentioned you will shift to a larger room later but i hope that will materialize as the Floorstanders can be an eyesore in a smallish room besides getting noisy.

I would recommend a good pair of bookshelves + a subwoofer for you. That way you will save space and add the bass when required.

There are many contradictory things here but there is 1 constant ie good sound and therefore you must take a call on all these aspects and go for something that sounds right to you.

It is unfair to say that NAD + PSB = good or something like that..

In your previous post you mentioned you liked the Polk RTI A7 on many aspects.. maybe give it another listen.

Give it some patience and some time and a few auditions.. things will fall in place.

mpw

Excellent bass does not mean highs and mids are not good ;) ... I also listen to mostly Rock and electronic music and based on my listening when I bought my speakers about a year back, I preferred in the following order

MA(Silver RX6) > Tannoy (DC6T) > Focal (7 series) > KEF ((Dont remember) > Klipsch (Dont Remeber) > Dali (Ikon 6) > Mordaunt Short (Dont remember) > B&W(683) > Paradigm (Monitor 7?) > MA( Bronze) > Wharfedale (10.7) > JBL > Polk (Dont remember)

From MA Bronze onwards, speakers were lower priced so not fair comparison. Could not try Epos and PSB as I did not have much time.
