Hi

I want to buy a 32" LCD/LED TV with full HD and 100Hz or better support. It must be 32" and I will view from a distance of 2-3 feet approx.

I will use it as a PC monitor.

My budget is around 30-40k.

I can't buy Sony because I have read that their Engine 3 has problems when used as a PC monitor.

I am currently considering, Samsung 650 for around 35k. Is there any better option?

Why dont you use a PC monitor? Try the DELL IPS panel 30 incher. i.e The 30" version of the 2408WFP. Comes with all connectivity options you will want without a TV tuner.

Or do you need the TV Tuner?

16:9 is not a very useful format for work. You need at least 16:10.

HTH

And what makes you say so ?

Also the PC monitor with extra tv tuner card will cost a lot more, considering the OPs requirement of 32".

BTW I am using the HDTVs as PC monitors from last 4 years. Never had any problem. The 32" LCD TV in my signature is my PC monitor as well.

I am only confused about the 100Hz requirement. If PC monitor is the primary requirement, 100Hz wont help much.

Seems OP is confused of having an option to have 100Hz refresh rate on the LCD TV which is INCORRECT. 100Hz is ONLY internal picture processing speed and not available as an external "refresh rate" of 100Hz. On top of that, 100Hz or 200Hz or 400Hz can not be used in PC Monitor mode. ALL HDTVs support a max refresh rate of 60Hz or 75Hz (in some of the lower than native resolution) only.

1. I can't buy a Dell U3011 because it costs close to 80k.

2. At most I can buy a 27" IPS from Dell which is still slightly above my budget at 43k, and that is still like 2/3rd the size of a 32" LCD TV.

3. I want to view my movies and serials and games from my HDD on the monitor. So I don't need a TV tuner.

4. And I WANT 16:9. NOT 16:10.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
