Lets talk about blurays--movies/ scenes/audio/pq /repeat values

BARAKA

A MPI Media Group release, region A and DTS-HD-MA. Good PQ/SQ. A very good documentary film shot entirely without the usage of any dialogue, just sound and images, on six continents and in 24 countries, exploring the formation and evolution of Earth, the ascendance of man and the consequences of technology.

Definitely a must have in one's collection.

cheers.

The videocruncher that aneelr is, he would have watched it atleast once:cool:.

Bourn Ultimatum............I dont know if its me, but after watching AVATAR BR, no other BR looks the same, I mean I am not saying the PQ was any less for what we expect in a BR, but AVATAR was in a different league all together........seriously now we gotta give ratings keeping the AVATAR BR in reference.........Audio quality was more commendable though..............if AVATAR was 10/10 in both A/V quality this is how my verdict would be...............

6.5/10 .... PQ
6.8/10 ..... SQ

I dont agree....

The PQ difference of Avatar should not be compared with Bourne, it is not an graphical movie, which was shot like an real life movie.. The sound is superb in Bourne Ultimatum / May be we can find fault with earlier series.

May be u can compare some mixture of animation combined with little portion of real life movies with Avatar. Hope my point should be valid.

 do you have any meter for finding SQ... 6.8...??:)

Hi,

I've watched them on a DVD, and all 3 are indeed nice one. Just hope it releases on bluray.;) It's surely worth it.

cheers.

On the contrary, a real movie footage should look better than the CGI stuff on BR, any how even the normal non CGI scenes of AVATAR BR looks better than Bourn Ultimatum........and if the SQ of Bourn Ultimatum is superb, then wait till you hear the last battle sequence of AVATAR :)

A Sony Pictures release, region A and DTS-HD-MA. Shot with the Red One Camera, it's picture quality is awesome. Very good details in each and every frame. And the HD audio adds to the fun.

cheers.

The Patriot: Very good quality picture and good audio (LPCM). The movie itself is an awesome movie. A must watch in BD. I specially love the initial few landscape shots and looked so good.
Fifth Element: The animations didn't look good. Actually due to Hi-def I felt that quite a few errors were quite visible (one scene of long shot of a spaceship on a starry background, you can easily make out the copy paste job or the Diva's head looks plasticky). Sound was good. But it's an old movie so probably these things can be overlooked.

TROY, Directors Cut

A Warner Bros. release, region free and DD5.1/LPCM 5.1 uncompressed audio. The PQ/SQ was really good. The sound of the battle sequences are really well mixed. A must have in one's BD collection, IMO.

cheers.

I love this movie man. Especially the powerful dialogues and fantastic fight scenes. Both Achilles and Hector are really great warriors and have been depicted well. I agree, Troy and Gladiator (for fight scenes) are a must have in BD.

The blu rays I own -

Heat - My top 5 favorite movie.
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Wizard of Oz (I have the single disk set and want to sell this off and buy the 4 disk set available in the US)
Raging Bull
The Dark Knight (Bought in India - doesn't have BD Live. Am I missing much?)

Which Blu rays do you recommend to buy from India?

I generally get my stuff from US via my brother. I am looking at Bourne Trilogy, Godfather Trilogy (Copolla Restoration), LOTR (when it comes out on with the extended edition). My problem is I have around 750 DVDs, so own most movies I want. For instance I already have Taxi Driver and Citizen Kane two disk sets. Can't see buying them on blu-ray. I can see myself buying very few blu rays ultimately for my current knowledge of films. As my knowledge increases, I will purchase rarer titles. I am really thinking of getting Sunrise from the US too because that's a film I loved.

I dont' like that list, it doesn't have The Matrix. And I don't think Patton is a good transfer and that great movie to have over Matrix.

Around 8 months back, when ordering BDs first time I used this list as reference. If I remember it correctly at that time Matrix(Part 1) is there in the list.Seems like some titles got skipped to accommodate new titles like LOTR,SPR, Minority report..etc.

Still Matrix got an amazing transfer compared to some of the titles in the list like LOTR if this list is based only on AQ/PQ not the movie.

whats the region coding of these from aus ,

By default Australia is locked to region B, but region A and region free are also available. All of my collection is either region free or region A.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
