LG 50PJ560R MKV format playback problem

I bought LG plasma tv 50PJ560R and attached my 500gb usb hard disk.
I have some avi and mkv video files but only avi files can be played. I cannot play mkv files.....:sad:
Please help...

Is it possible to upgrade LG plasma tv's firmware or software....

If the plasma specs does not say it is compatible with mkv, only option is to get a media player or connect with your PC out if you have one.

Mkv is not listed in specs. but in case of Samsung which my sis bought is playing mkv without any prob. I'm surprised why LG is not playing mkv..

Why disappointed? Is the picture quality bad? If mkv playback is the only problem then you can always buy a hd media player for as low as 2.5k.

picture quality is perfect.. there is no prob with the tv but only mkv playback.....

Just get yourself an entry level media player which plays all formats you want.I prefer to play with media player rather plug and unplug the pen drive direct to the tv and make it loosen up.
