OK i needed a player with optical in and Im getting the lg924SF for 13k, is this a good HT?

I had a demo, there were a few things i noticed
1) The mids very over powering, but i think once the speakers burn in this will get better.
2) The bass was tight.
3) The rear speakers almost seamed dead i couldnt hear or feel anything from them..
4) the design is boderline average..

With output from the sony blueray player,i compared it to the 20k sony ht, (only one with optical in, lower prices had no optical).
The scene was from WANTED-Hindi, the climax scene.
My thoughts:-
1) The sony had a better sound stage.
2) the rear speaker were very good compared to lg, There was a good amount of sound that the rear speakers simply didnt produce.
3) the bass on the lg was tight, while on the sony it was all over the place..Its like bass looses its surprising value..
4) The sony is 7k-6k costlier.
5) not as many eq modes as lg...
6) the LG was much louder than sony, but it did distort at very high volumes..But on comparable sound volume it was not bad..while you keep sony's sound at 25 you cud keep lg's
at 15 for the same loudness..
7) even after all this lg seems like vfm..

I'm wondering if the rear speaker had a problem or is it how its meant to be for the LG ht..

I need some quick advice..
Im going to demo the Philips 3571 as soon as i get hold of some place to demo it..Seems phillips ahs disappeared out of the market in nagpur..

If any one has a good ear and some spare time please do review the system for me at one of the stores or if some one has it please post ur experience..Especially with reference to rear speakers..

Thanks guys,
Partymonger.

Ps:- Dont recommend the onkyo's we have a new distri here and quote 32k for onkyo 3100

I have no idea about the LG you are talking about. However if you are interested in just a speaker set, I would recommend Logitech z 5500 speakers.
They have one optical and one co-axial digital inputs. They can decode DTS and Dolby digital signals. BTW they are THX certified as well. I bought
those recently for about 16.5 in Hyderabad and would definitely recommend it. You will however need a external source such as a DVD player to input
the signals to this system.

Yes i already know abt the z-5500, and im not interested in it..since in my city its not available for demo :(
I would like info on this specific model plz..

What kind of info are you looking at on this z5500?. If you require specific details, please mention it and we would be happy to help.

EDIT: I re-read your reply and understood that you are not interested in z 5500 and you require info on the LG only.
please ignore my post.

I converted the transformers rotf 1080 nhanc3 rip using convert x to dvd and demoed the 924 in a decent trial room the results were very good,, put a few trailers on the dvd too, the sound was good..the best part, the bass was really tight, it didnt fart or humm..

In some scenes it really gets into its own and blasts away..even the music playback is very nice..In bass heavy songs, the bass literally slaps you and i kid u not..
