Hi Guys

Have been mostly a silent absorber of the gyaan from this site - wanted to say thanks for the guidance from all of you.

I bought the LG PA75U (LED) from US about 15-20 days ago...have been playing with it since then. Some notes:
  • I have it ceiling mounted and projecting on a white wall, around 85" projection. Picture quality is very good with HD material from laptop and TataskyHD. Average quality as you can expect from SD channels.
  • Connected via an ActionTec wireless HDMI to my receiver. Is able to successfully receive both A/V without any sync issues. Network connection via built-in Wifi.
  • While there are SmartTV features like streaming video over Plex etc, no good way to send audio back to receiver.. does not support ARC or have an digital out. Currently I have a analog audio cable going back to receiver.
  • Have disabled Eco mode and run the built-in configuration for calibration as per evening time with some light on nearby. Colours pop on vivid setting but blacks are greys (compared to my panasonic plasma). During night its very good colors and contrast, if you really turn off all lights.
  • Streaming movies from a Plex server works well. All movie metadata and art can be browsed and played from the projector directly.
  • The other SmartTV apps and browser seems quite useless and slow, but you can browse other 'channels' like youtube from Plex from your plex server (a laptop in my case).
  • Could not get WiDi working from android 4.2 phone to the device...the phone is unable to find the projector.
  • MirrorOP (alternate screen mirroring technology) works quite well, a bit laggy, but good enough for videos and text.
  • MirrorOP from windows works well. Is able to send out both video + audio.
  • MirrorOP from iPad gen 1 works (needs to be jailbroken), bit slow. Is able to send out only video, audio still plays from the ipad. As per site, it's only supported on Ipad 2 onwards, so that may be the reason.
  • MirrorOP from android requires a rooted phone.. mine is not, so it failed.
  • Tried playing a 3D SBS test video from youtube... it automatically recognises it as 3D and switches format. It was quite interesting to see the video play as 2 separate segments with a line in the middle on the laptop screen, while a merged picture was appearing on the projection. You can also do 2D to 3D conversion of regular content. However I don't have 3D glasses, have ordered from eBay.
Let me know if you have any specific questions...happy to answer.

Thanks

Congratulations vinylrecord! Enjoy great viewing with you projector!

Please post some pics as well.

something like airplay!!!

Hi

Learnt something supercool yesterday...

If you start the built-in youtube app on this projector and go to settings, you get an option to 'pair' a mobile device.

Now if you visit youtube.com/pair from a mobile device (I tried from an android phone), you punch in the numbers displayed and now you start and browse your videos on the TV directly.

The cool part is that the phone is just a remote, the TV is actually streaming the video directly from youtube, so you can use both the smart-remote and the phone to control the playback... (better than airplay? :ohyeah: ))

Cheers

Hii,,

I am also planning to buy this pj as i am impressed with its specs...can u please let me know how hav you purchased it from USA and wat is the price you have paid..

thanks

nitesh

I think there are no obvious focus issues.. My logic is that if I look at the picture on the wall closely, I can actually see individual dots which I'm assuming are each pixel. The pixels are most clear in the center. Just to clarify, there is no pattern printed on my wall ;-)

Unfortunately my projector is not in the center of the screen vertically, which means I'm using the auto keystone feature.
To be very frank I cannot see the pixels 1.5 feet away, so I doubt the focus or resolution are going to be much of an issue.

I bought this in person from bestbuy. It was small enough to carry in my laptop strolley. Price 650 usd

any clue when it is coming to india ? coz i believe there wont be any warranty if u get it shipped from US...

Nitesh when I checked about this in Chennai last month I was told that it will tentatively be released by middle of August, probably an IDay release:)

do LG PA75u has got international warranty with it ? if u get it from US ...will the warranty be void in India ??

PA75U USA warranty card

so this simply means...if u get one from USA...u will not get any international warranty in India....dats bad :(
we will hav to wait for it to get launched in India then !!!

Hi guys! I'm new here.

Anyway, I also got this mount and just want to know what ceiling mount did you get and where did you get it from?

I tried to put it on my tripod but it keeps on tilting back because of the weight of the cables at the back. I may need a plate to mount it to the tripod and possible a better tripod but contemplating if I should mount it to the ceiling.

Hi ,

I'm in US and will be returning to India for good soon.
I have finalized to purchase this projector with the excellent features it has and do not really require to buy a high end smart led tv's.
I'm in confused with few things and I hope you can help me with.
1.LG US says its only NTSC and does not support PAL.Would this make sense or do we have any limitations with this?
2.The lumens is very low which is upto 600 lumens where as other projectors even at a lesser price provide a brightness upto 2000 lumens .
Many forums say this projector is good only in pitch dark environment.
Any observations from you?and do you think its not a good one during day?
3.Can this be connected to 5.1 Home theater audio?
4.Powersupply : Do we need a power convertor 110v to 220v?

Thanks
SP

1. PAL/NTSC does not matter as it is you would be using a separate DTH Box.
2. lumens 700 ..i have used for presentation in a moderately lit room ..is fine...more than enough for a curtained room for a movie..
3. no audio out ...connect to a reciever to get 5,1 audio.
4 confirmed ..no need for a step down adapter..it has a laptop style powerbrick...works fine on 220V

I think PAL/NTSC matters even with DTH box. I had old NTSC only TV from US and it didn't work with Tatasky HDMI. I would stick with something that is not purely NTSC.

I got a Liberty ceiling mount.. I think this one -
:: AV-Vision : Products Details ::

Ceiling mount worked well - one thing to be careful of is that in the projection, the bottom of the picture aligns to the bottom of the picture.

So if you flip the projector upside down for ceiling mount, the TOP of the projector aligns to the TOP of the projection. So you need to buy a mount that brings the projector down fairly low i.e. big extension.

I did not want it to come so low that we start bumping our heads into this, so I'm using a bit of vertical swivel to project the image 'down' by a few degrees, and using auto keystone correction.
