Looking to buy a 55 inch LED. Please suggest.

Hi
I am also looking for 55 inch 3D full HDTV.
Actually I would have settled with 50 inch plasma but I had flicker with active glasses when I checked it at a store, moreover plasma is a dying technology.
I too saw infibeam advt but I don't think its a good idea to buy a big TV online.
Can someone advise me if I should wait for newer models next year?
or buy Panasonic L55ET5D around 1.3lacsl?
or go for LG?
Is 3D really useful?
:)

There is no flicker with 3D in plasma or LED, ie, active 3D. You may have been watching bad source, I don't know. But some people are averse to active 3D and get headaches with slight disorientation. For such people passive 3D is a better option. If going with passive 3D, LG and Panasonic ET5 are the only options. New models will get introduced every year that will improve upon today's models but that will be mostly on basics such as pq, aq and fancies such as smart apps, etc.

May I say that basics of TV are more important than 3D and fancies. Your 3D time will be less than 5%.

As far as "plasma is dying" comment is concerned, you are entitled to your opinion. :) People said that about vinyls too but they are making a comeback and still sold actively in UK/Europe all these 'dead' years.

I noticed flicker in sony and and samsung LED TV 55'', Panasonic Plasma 3D but not in panasonic and LG passive 3D LED. My other family members cant believe it, bco'z they see it absolutely normal. Dealer told some people do have flicker with active glasses and they should go for Passive 3D.
So if you plan 2 buy active 3D let all your family members c it in showroom. I read lot stories on net where people changed their TV set after buying it but I don't think in India TV dealer will do that happily. Your reaction to "plasma is dying" delighted me and I won the debate at home. Plasma is a good technology but not good enough to reap benefit for Panasonic.
Panasonic has no new Plasma models which are full HD without 3D. I cant understand why they don't make that model.
LG Plasma models are basic.
Moreover People are going for crispy picture of LED's.
But my dilemma is to go for 3D or not.
Has any body any idea when glasses free 3D will come to India.
What will they cost around.
What about Oled technology.

Hi hbsoft
While I would like to help you, let me share my thoughts.
glass free 3D TVs might be in the pipeline. but not sure ho successful they will be. I would consider that as an emerging tech, but not matured. So why do we need to go for that when it is yet to become matured ? I also guess it will be very costly.
Same goes for OLED as well. I would ask which one do you prefer of the currently available in the market ? You look to have a liking for LED. In that case, what is your budget, preference brand, screen size etc ?

Regarding why Panasoni doesn't provide full HD non-3D model, it is not a negative thing to be perceived, instead they are giving you an additional feature called "3D" in all full HD models. These days, most of the brands are offering 3D right from the lower mid-range models. The only difference is Panasonic is offering 3D even at entry levels. So 3D is considered as a supplementary/bonus feature.

Thnx just4kix and shanmune for your sincere advice.
I just wanted a larger screen more than 50'', plasma was an obvious and intelligent choice with budget around 80k. I thought 50'' screen would give me a life like immersible image in my 14x12 bedroom. But the flicker I am noticing with active glasses has left me with few choices (Panasonic or LG LED). If I go for 55'' screen in LED my budget is going to be around 1.5L. I also doubt 55'' would be a larger screen and will give me eyestrain on long watching, though I did't find any problem in showroom for 20-30 minutes.
Plz advise.

care for 3d if you always run original 3d br disks often......for normal 2d to 3d dont bother..you wont use it.its like the expensive camera we buy in craze and it gets its place in almirah.....
care for the best picyure to you..whther led or plasma...
i suggest you 2 models
panasonic ST or GT or VT 50 inch..
sony 750,850 55 inch...

they are the best without any doubt...

if still 3d is a priproty fro you go for a 3d full hd projector for actual enjoyment around 1.4 lakhs epson tw8000 or likes
if reluctant for a projector
for tv then stick to lg for passive 3d.......

Toshiba have a glasses free TV available in India: will cost you around 12 Lac.
Seems the viewing angle is limited tobeing directly in front of the set.

Projenjit has given you the right set of models that you can pick. Since you have a preference for LED, you can pick from Sony on HX850 or HX750. The only problem with that models is you will be getting only 46 inch at a price closer to 80k. Not exactly close, but you may have to stretch a bit. HX750 will cost around 1L and HX850 around 1.2L. The next size that you may get is 55 inch in Sony which are very costly. For your room size, 46 inch is a good option as well. As long as you can extend a bit on your budget, you can settle for a very good set either in HX750 or in HX850. If you want stick only at 80k and want only a 50 inch screen, then I am afraid you may not have an option other than going for the plasma.

Okay, since Im short of space and dark area , I have to go for a LED TV.

So, Sony HX750 or Samsung 8 series or LG ?

Just bought a 55 inch Sony HX 750 a few days ago for Rs 1.41 lakhs and am really pleased with it.Simple to operate, no flicker, super picture. Havn't yet tried it with Blue Ray discs, but the built in wireless modem is great fun.Watched a whole lot of music videos on U Tube,of varying vintage. The dealer was most helpful (Sony Center, Banjara Hills ).

Thanks you all now I am quite enlightened.
I will again check the flicker in a good showroom, target is clear and choose b/w sony hx 750 or LG or panasonic p50ut.
Thanks again.
