Hi guys

Needed some quick help from those who are in Dubai (or know about this)...Anyone knows where to get a Marantz PM 8003 in Dubai? I called Sharaf from India and they didn't seem to have this in stock. Same with some of the other stores whose names crop up on this forum periodically. Also if you can let me know a good price to pay for this, that'll be great.
Finally I'm assuming duty if one brings this back to india would be 30% of the amount over 25k right?

thanks!
Boban

a friend of mine is coming from dubai. i am interested in buying either an amp or a avr. pls suggest

Guys,
Electronics can be shipped from Dubai using Door to Door Cargo. They charge in the range of Dirhams 13 per Kilo & add a 15% of the item value as a charge towards customs. It take about 3-4 weeks to arrive.
If you are OK with the price on the electronics, use this service, they are quire reliable. I have made use of this system and are I have received stuff intact.
LCD's / LED TV's will work out closer to the Indian Market price and no warranty at times.
If you have friends travelling frequently and are able to cart the stuff for you. Consider yourself luck especially now that airlines have a standard 23Kg checkin baggage allowance.
Hope this helps! If you need any more info you are more than welcome to contact me.

There are plenty of operators here. I live in Abu Dhabi & I use Echo Cargo, Abu Dhabi. Tel: +97126716966 & Mob +971503167132. Usually when I am sending delicate items, I asked them to bubble wrap it and use an additional carton. Also sticking the Fragile Sticker helps.. These Echo people are from Kerala!!

but what is the diffrance between india and dubai as preice is consern

Big difference...

I've bought a samsung full HD LED for 2350 AED (around 30000) six months back.
When I took it here customs duty was around 2000 rupees. (total 32000)
Here it was costing around 45000 that time.

Hi

My personal opinion is that you will not get warranty for the product you purchase from Dubai. It may be cheaper but you need to consider customs, handling charges, weight charges by airlines.

The same products are available in India, there are ample Home Theatre dealers in most of the cities in India and also available online. You also have the option to buy the same from the grey market which ofcourse is without warranty but really cheaper.

End of the day, it is the individual call to decide on what appeals to him or her and with more preference to budget in hand.
