Marantz Owner Thread...

Does anyone know how to turn off the preamp in Marantz SR6013 AVR, and use it purely as a power amp? I plan to get a processor and use this AVR purely as a power amp.
Thanks.
I guess Pure Direct mode would be the closest to what you are looking for. All onboard processing circuits are switched off, so it's preamp would be just passing the signal as it is....akin to almost being bypassed

Hi,

The Upgrade Bug is biting me.

Looking at the cinema series,

Current MRP prices as listed by many dealers:

Cinema 70 7.2 (Formerly NR Series NR1711) Rs 154900 50 watts per channel 8 ohms

Cinema 60 7.2 (Formerly SR5015 series) Rs 187900 100 watts per channel 8 ohms

Cinema 50 9.4 (Formerly SR 6015 series) Rs 254900 110 watts per channel 8 ohms

Cinema 40 9.4 (Formerly SR7015 series) Rs 399900 125 watts per channel 8 ohms

A few dealers offer discount which can range from 10% to 15%. I am looking to do a group deal where we can possibly get a better rate.

I will need to know how many of you want to buy any one of the Cinema series AVRs and accordingly will ask for best rates. Shipping / Courier typically would be free for Mumbai area but possibly chargable to other locations at actuals or a flat rate.

Please DM me the Cinema model you are interested in, your location name with pin code latest by sunday 12 noon so I can then reach out to the dealers I know and get the best prices. This will be for obvious reasons a short term deal which may not be available in the near future.

I'm not sure about the correct thread where I can post this question. I need expert opinion about Marantz SR8015 and Denon 8500HA. Which one I should go for?

Compare the specs and take a call, traditionally Denon is more edged towards movies and Marantz is more towards Music.

If I were you, would compare the specs especially the features I will use now and potentially use in the future, check costing (if you have the budget for anyone then ignore costing) and take a call.

Hello,

I am relatively new to the world of Hi-Fi. In my current Setup are:
1. Amp - Marantz SR 5013
2. Speakers - Polk Audio Sigrature ES60 Tower Speakers
3. Primary Streaming Device : Apple TV 4k Gen 2

Pardon me if I have some silly Questions, would like some inputs:

1. I connected the Apple TV to the Marantz Input
2. Bi-Amped the Speakers with settings enables within the Amp interface
3. I do not know the different modes to operate the Sound, would like to know how I can extract most from this setup.

The optimal listening Volume is between 60-70dB, below which it isn't very prominent.

URGENT: Last week I was travelling for work when my parents switched on the setup to watch something, Everything turned on fine but all of a sudden the Amp shut down and a red light starting blinking rapidly on the console. From what I read online, says the PCB is burnt. Is it true?

1. Refer to the Owner's Manual to learn how to operate the AVR properly. If only 2 speakers are connected then sound modes would be Virtual or Surround or Pure Direct. Rest wont sound great as you need other speakers connected to enjoy cinematic surround playback.

2. Hope the wires connected to the AVR and the speakers are properly in their respective slots and not bare out to touch each other which can cause shorting of the channels.

3. The AVR seems to have gone into protection mode. Refer Owners Manual to reset.
Usual workaround is to unhook the AVR power supply plug and connect back. Before turning on, please check the speaker wires connected are properly connected well to the AVR and also check the terminals on each speaker for proper connections.

Did you run audyssey setup? If you did then you would ideally got a good playback. Audyssey is very conservative for setups so refer to owners manual to increase the source volume content manually which will help then boost playback. Default source setting is '0' you can increase this to 3 / 6 / 8. When doing this keep the AVR volume on 50 with something playing and then increase source volume carefully one step at a time. Not many can do this, so hence READ the owners manual carefully and perform steps slowly.

Another reason for AVR to go into protection mode is due to Over Heating, the SR5000 series does not have inbuilt fans like the SR6000 and SR7000 SR8000 series of AVRs. You would need to get external cooling fans.

Something like this: (You get bigger models too).

Hope the issue you face is resolved, usually Marantz does not blow up easily. How to reset the AVR is also detailed in the owners manual and once done you should then run audyssey again.

Thank you for your inputs, I guess the entire idea of having protection mode is to avoid major damage to the main board, but could it be possible that there has been a damage on the PCB?

I will get back home next week and try out what you suggested and update here.

Need help on audyssey in NR1506.
Every time I run audyssey, sound gets messed up. Either mids get compress, highs are to high, sometime bass is more. Have done multiple time reset and run audyssey.
When I reset and do not run audyssey, sound is good for stereo listening, but for movie it's not engaging. Once I run audyssey and if I keep it off, it doesn't give the original sound in stereo when it was reset. Is it that audyssey program in my AVR has gone faulty?

Once Audyssey is done, you can manually adjust the levels for each speaker and even change the same from SMALL to LARGE etc. Do this carefully, refer to the owners manual for the same on how you need to do it. As for me I use a SR 60xx series AVR and after running Audyssey, i change the same from Reference to FLAT. It sounds much better.

Refer to the Owners Manual and reset the AVR if you feel the AVR is not optimally performing as last resort.
