Marantz Owner Thread...

The denon doesn't have banana sockets. I was wondering others are different sizes or am I again doing some incorrect?

What are the speaker connectors in that? Not binding posts?

Nope, old fashioned speaker wire insert.

Hi Celester,

Check the Marantz owners manual to check the size for banana sockets which are on the amp and then check the specs of DAC banana pins you have....as we know there are some 2 sizes available..one of them is most commonly used......better to be sure.....

Next day reset and now getting feeble sound at max volume

Hi,

Assume the AVR is at least 2 years old or more....DTH would have been connected to the AVR directly through HDMI? If yes then possible current surge would have passed through the board and damaged something....some have faced this in the past...such articles are there over the internet.....

Resetting should resolve....once done...unplug the mains and check....

Obviously after any reset of AVR, you need to run audyssey again to get settings and levels back.....manual adjustments may be required...

Even after doing all this there is some challenge, show the same to a qualified technician....

Is there proper ventilation for the receiver? I guess something is broken, get it checked at a reputed service center.

Hi,

Is the lack of output power common across all channels or any specific channel(s)?
Also, check if it is common with any source input port.

Dear friends .I own a marantz 1504 which I use to play my wharfedale towers 10.6.although I also have central channel AMD surround speakers they are not yet connected.I read in earlier threads that it is not advisable to connect DTH directly to avr .so connected it to my Sony led TV and tool optical out to avr.but when I do this ter is no sound coming out of the towers.I changed the settings given on the TV for audio from TV speakers to avr.still no sound. What could have been the reason.could anybody help ?

You can connect coaxial out from D2H to AVR coaxial input for audio. This way you don't have to take the TV out optical to AVR.

I have the same receiver and have all my inputs connected directly to the receiver, which include the Airtel dth via hdmi. Touch nothings gone wrong past 2 years or so.

These electronics do not choose a date or time to call it a day. They can die anytime due to any reason. In my opinion connect all sources preferably using hdmi and enjoy the best quality your setup is capable of.

Well I have never tried that. You could try ARC, a single HDMI from TV to Receiver should be able to make them talk. My TV has neither a digital nor ARC, so cannot try them out. However, receiver being the center point works fine. Only wish I could switch sources while the receiver is in stand by mode. I believe higher variants have that feature.

I suppose you are selecting the correct input for Marantz and also enabling "optical" in settings for that input?

Does your TV support ARC?

Yes it supports arc.my TV is connected to avr with an HDMI with arc .I did not make any change in the settings on the avr.I just connected the HDMI out from DTH directly to TV and took optical out from TV to avr in.on the avr remote ter is a button to listen to the TV audio directly .I pressed that.but I did notake any changes in the settings if I'm supposed to.

My TV has arc .and the current HDMI cable that is connected also has arc . ter is no separate HDMI input ony avr for TV audio.ter is only optical in for TV audio.ter r hdmi inputs for other devices like gaming console etc. So wer will I input the HDMI on the avr? Also the TV has to have an HDMI output port or any HDMI port is fine ?

"TV" on AVR should work when you have enabled HDMI control in AVR. So you will be automatically using HDMI ARC cable for audio. But be sure that this HDMI cable is plugged into input marked "ARC" on TV. Which is your TV model?

In above case there's no need for optical cable from TV>AVR.
But if you like to use optical cable (instead of ARC) then you will have to assign the corresponding AVR input with Optical 1 or 2 whatever your case maybe.

Anyway I am not an expert on this and it's a long time since I have tried these settings on my setup. But this is what I remember. Hope this helps.

You may have to select the corresponding A/V input in the AVR so that it takes the optical.

I have the same connection. D2H HDMI Out going to TV HDMI. D2H coaxial out going to AVR coaxial. Primarily I am using this for audio as it supports dolby digital for HD channels.

TV optical is connected to AVR optical. ( In Yamaha it is assigned to AV1).
It works.

Hi kaushik_dhume

I have connected TV out via Optical to the AVR inputs which is TV....you need to enable it in the INPUT menu....read the manual....this then works for all TV sources...even the HDD...(USB mode)...you may need to increase the input level for this source accordingly....which is 0 to 12....advise to keep the same between 10 or 12...not less....

I use a HD STB and given a COAXIAL out to the AVR to get the DD and DD+ benefit.....

There is HDMI out from STB which goes directly to TV so i can view and hear the channels with or without the AVR....

Hope this helps....

Okay stuck in a connectivity issue with my NR 1504. I have a HTPC hooked up to the receiver via HDMI. All good till this point.

I then tried to add a USB DAC between the PC and the receiver. The Analog out of the DAC was connected to Analog inputs on the receiver (e.g CD). This is where it gets weird. I updated the Input Assign table for the PC input such as HDMI input and under Analog I set 3 which is the CD Input. No Luck. No Audio.

If I then set the CD Input (3) on another Input option except for the PC HDMI input, I get the Audio but no Video.

So in short, I am unable to merge HDMI & Analog Inputs for my music listening. Either I have Video or I have Audio, not both together.

Has anyone tried this and been successful with it?

PS: No issues with Video or Audio when HDMI is used for them, which means, built in DAC is at work. I am just trying to use an external DAC, but I need Video of the PC to play Audio.
