its quite surprising for myself to see how am moving up the hifi steps inch-by-inch, when just a few days ago which could be counted on finger-tips, i had barely started off in this forum with just some curiosity. there's a LOT to be learnt and experienced
anyway, cutting short the incoherent talk, i would come to the point.
am just about to receive a pair of DSE floorstanders (i know atleast 3 members who own/owned these - sean, maddy777, freshseasons, and these are very much satisfied by this pair. of these, the latter-most has gratefully sold his set to me). now am no audiophile, and my music-taste too doesnt quite match with the audiophilic-genre. i listen to a lot of metal/folk metal, trance, electronica, classical instrumental, soft rock, introspective rock, world music, OSTs, etc., etc., but strictly NO hip-hop, black metal, and most candyfloss romantics. so i have a requirement of good bass and lows.
my source would be an upcoming logitech squeezebox touch, and if everything goes fine, then may be a TEAC CDp in near-future.
all this time i was fixed on norge amplifier(s), particularly the pre-power combo, but just today i read more about the marantz PM6003, and am struck with the 'buyer's-doubt' disease. am absolutely clueless as to where would i get this marantz amp, and how much would it cost. am open to buying from abroad through an online portal. also, i neither have the capacity nor intention to spend a large sum for this, so something to the tune of 20k should be my target. am well-aware that the marantz amp might cost me much more than this figure, in which case am ready to forego this option too. just need an idea and some expert-suggestions from our members here.
on a side note, this thread might just see its end in a short space itself, because one of our esteemed members here, 'denom', has already told me that the marantz amp would probably be an overkill for my set-up. so am not resting on some great hopes either
