Hi came across this amp, has anybody any idea about the sound quality of this amp. Has any one herd and any reviews of it please do post.

Hi cifrancis,

Have heard this receiver, its not bad. What do you plan to pair it with? Price quoted of the receiver?

rgds

Does it mean it is not so good? Or not as good as pm 5004/6004?

No, its not like that, infact its slightly better than the 5004, 6004 though is better than it. BUT, here the advantage is that its a stereo receiver & hence you get to play with more features than a stand alone amp. So if the OP is looking for using the features of the receiver, then its a better buy than the 5004 amp.

Many forum members have liked the Wharf and Yamaha combo. Try auditioning your wharf speakers with Yamaha AS500 amplifier too.

No I am planning to by Stereo Receiver as it has many features like Radio etc. and its value for money, i dint know the sound quality that's why i decided to ask the form members, beside it has good wattage per channel also.

I am surprised not a lot of them have this and/or have not seen this post to comment? Even I am looking to buy this one. I am planning to pair it with the Wharfedale 400. I will only listen to music so clarity and hi fidelity is must..Please advice !

If your purpose is to use only the amp & not the other features associated with a stereo receiver, then you are better off going for a stand alone 2 channel amp.

FYI, an FM is selling his 3 month old PM7004 amp & is also from bengaluru. Suggest you look up the ad in the 'for sale by owner' section of the forum & get in touch with the owner.

Hi Francis, did you finally buy the SR4023???

I auditioned it some time back. It is a pretty good sterio receiver having sufficient energy to drive the demanding BS speakers and towers . Pair it with Dali Ikon 2 BS / Zensor 5.

Look for the speaker with the highest efficiency/ sensitivity with in your budget. Diamond are good choice, but the sensitivity is 86db which means you will need a solid amplifier to bring the best out of it for Stereo listening...

Any speaker which is close to 90db efficiency will do justice for Marantz SR4023..

Well I have a serious doubt here:
planning to upgrade to Marantz PM7004 but came accross this SR4023
which is less then half price of 7004...though both are for stereo setup.
I Just wanna know is it worth paying more than double...is the sound quality
is that folds better than 4023.
Pls ADVISE
Well I listen only to Vinyls on my technics Rcord-Deck with M44-7
speakers Polk tsi200 with sound sensitivity 90db.

Given what you have and listen to, 4023 should be sufficient. I own the 7004 and I have heard the 4023, My personal opinion is that it is not worth paying double. But these things are subjective. I certainly did not think the 4023 was that far behind for 7004 to cost twice as much.

Both these amps use EI transformers. Probably SR 4023 may be having IC circuit. PM 7004 uses transistors. This is where the quality of the signal output and strength differs. 7004 has very good phono stage and is also having midrange adjustment. I advise you to hear to both simultaneously and you will judge them by yourself.
