Thanks for the guidance - I am settled for a year or two. By then I hope to solve the room issues and also get to my destination speaker and amp.You can’t go wrong with the EAR 834. It’s a special phono.

Arjun did help in doing some changes the other day - it sounds much better now.I don’t think you have any any room issues. You just need to work on the speaker placement.
Once you get your speaker placement right, the position will be pretty much the same for any speaker you buy later. At most a couple of cms here and there.

Partially carpeted - planning to do a full carpet and gik panels at the ceiling corners.ROC, maybe try some absorption at ceiling corners. Try a simple pillow at the top corners and see if it sorts out.
