Mordaunt Short Mezzo 6 or Aviano 8

Hi Guys

Have any one of you demoed Mordaunt Short's Mezzo 6 and Aviano 8 at the same time? The Mezzo 6 is probably 20 K or more expensive of the two. The question is should the budget be stretched by that much? And are the returns worth it especially to listen to lounge music?

I know the Audiophile response but I hope you guys will also think thru your pockets.

Buying Aviano 8 will require more powerful amp which might end up costlier than the 20K. Not sure how big is the area you want to cover but for a medium hall Mezzo 6 would be better definitely.

Thanks for your response. But what kind of a wattage do you think would be sufficient to drive the aviano 8 and get the best out of it?

Both the speakers have almost the same sensitivity and impedance.
Because of more drivers?

Are you getting Avianos in Delhi ?
Here is Mumbai most dealers are out of Avianos and they say they have been out for months. They only have the Mezzos on offer now.
I heard the Mezzo 6 last weekend and it was very nice speaker. Though for about 10k less, the Paradigm Monitor 7 was almost equally good. Infact I preferred the Monitor 7 sound to the Mezzo 6

Hi Alpha, If you look at the specs Aviano 8 is rated for more continuos power than Mezzo 6 and also the fact that Messo 6 has more sensitivity that Aviano 8. So set aside loudness I believe to explore the full potential of a speaker with higher RMS ratings and lower sensitivity you will eventually end up for a more capable Amp to drive, probably a costly stereo amp or an even costlier AVR to say the least.

The sensitivity lower by only 1 db where as the max power is higher by 50 w for aviano 8

The aviano 8 are costlier by 50 ponds compared to mezzo 6 on richer sound web site??
