Nope, first time askin about the sub but I was under the impression you already got it. I am not excited rather curious because your 10 ft / 3.3 meter wide room will have a mode at about 100 Hz.

You made me curious now. How do u calculate that and how is that useful for a sub decision/placement/calibration.

Speed of sound/2*length or width of the room will be a mode and multiples of that value will also be modes. Yet the last room I had with a sub had resonances close to speed of sound/width. The bass can sound boomy/resonant at this frequency especially if there are more than a single mode close to each other, for eg. a square room. Small rooms have the advantage of having a wider distribution of room modes.

Well ... I am not getting into all these details now ..... All I know is that I am getting something thats one of the BEST in its line and probably the most positive reviewed and most talked about from one of the BEST brands available now (atleast I hope so and I hope am not wrong as well)
All these precise details will come when I start constructing my Home Theater Room, for which am consulting GIK for Acoustics and I already got a very good consultant for the all this calculation and placement of the speakers and subwoofer
I dont wanna be worried about these issues now.

Aditya

Aditya,

Came to this thread after your PM. Impressed with your dedication to get as close to the perfect home entertainment room.

Few observations based on the pics you have posted:
1. The main culprit is going to be the open space near the stairwell; for now curtains should suffice; but will leak sound to the rest of the home
2. Do not get room treatment done before all the intended speakers are in place
3. You could think of using gypsum or mdf boards hinged together; 10 ft = 5 panels of 2ft width; will work out very cheap if you plan with a local carpenter

AVR auto calibration result is based on number of speakers used in calibration process.
So what sounds good for movies may not necessarily sound good for music and vice versa. Here is what you can do:
1. Calibrate once for movies and note the settings (5.x or 7.x)
2. Calibrate once for music and note the settings (2.x; depending on music genre)
Use this cheat sheet for the appropriate entertainment session (movies/music).

Cheers,
Raghu

Thanx raghu
But this is not the HT room where am gonna place all equipment, i am just getting the speakers now, go back couple of pages and u can see my final equipment list which will blow this room if installed here. Thus room is just a temporary setup. So i am actually not worried about any room treatment here and i will be happy with however it sounds, just a calibration for movies and it is enoungh in this room i dont listen to music here.
Thanx again :)

Aditya

Update:
Sad :(
The delivery will not be done until December 20 :(
As per discussion with Distributor in Delhi, theres only 1 piece of PB13 Ultra in the country now, which is with a Mumbai based dealer, they thought of giving me that sub and replace it with a new one when the stock arrives in December.
But unfortunately that Dealer in Mumbai is not ready to route that sub to Hyderabad. So, now we have to wait until the new stock arrives which is expected to reach India on Sunday Nov 29. by the time it gets delivered it will be December 20 or before that.
Waiting is a pain in the A** :D
Cheers,
Aditya

Good thing here is ...... that Mumbai dealer had Black Oak Finish PB13 Ultra.
I wanted Piano Gloss Finish, but I compromised to take Black Oak as its available now.
The New stock thats arriving is only Piano Gloss Finish, so cheers to that ;):yahoo:

Looks good. Any plan to darken walls? I have projector setup with 120 inch screen. Setup is done at living area. White walls completely ruins the experience. Every wall gets lightened up, affects the picture quality on screen. I am moving my setup to bedroom room for this sole reason.
