Hi friends,

posted some pics..

mpw, the drool quotient just keeps on increasing! Looks lovely, as is the case always with Magma's stands.
The 270 is quite a powerful amp, it would do great. But do listen to it before you take the call.

@magma :clapping: great going mate(nice stands).

@mpw thats one :licklips: setup... Happy Listening.

Hi MPW
I have got the single column stands from Ali. Very well made but still i am not able to use it as Gati guys damaged the spikes in transit. Partly due to me also , because I had asked Ali to put the spikes in the bottom plate as i was not sure if I will be able to install them. It was raining hevaily since many days so could not go personally.
What material are you using to fill the columns?
Also can you post some close-up pics with the speakers on the stand

MPW, my guess is you can improve the sound by pulling out the speakers a foot and with a small toe in ?

exactly!

also what is the distance between the stands currently
if your sitting distance is not close ( i dont think it is looking at the pics)
you should also try the folowing

right stand
move flower pot in and stand outwards

left stand
move flowerpot inwards ( towards the unit to maintainn symmetry) and stand between flower pot and sub

Do the above only if you still form an isoceles triangle
if not let the stands be where they are
just bring them out a bit off the rear wall

get the stands out by a foot you will notice the difference

I know space is at a premium in mumbai. However all my experimentation has shhown the speakers sound best when they can see each other sideways without anything blocking them

well due to space constraints i know it is difficult for the entire speaker to see each other but partly would help too

rikhav,

am not using anything to fill the stands yet. Thats my next step apart from getting a paradigm CC190 center channel speaker or a good used 2 channel power amplifier to work with my AVR front pre outs.

will try and post more pictures..

thanks

Dear GeorgeO and Crewcut,

Thanks for posting on my thread but i would appreciate if you could keep your comments relevant to the thread.

Am sure there are many other threads asking for dealer names , address etc.. and the simplest thing to do is to visit the paradigm website and take it from there.

Hope you take this post in the right spirit.

magma,

there are kids ( and maids ) in the house so i think the flower pots act as a buffer.

I can pull the speakers out so as to get about 6 to 7 inches from the rear wall. presently it is aboput 4 inches and i realize the sound is "boomy" sometimes.

Also i am using a 16 BWG gauge wire for the fronts. Maybe i need thinner wires too as these are too big for them to lock on the speaker ports on the back of the speaker.

Havent used the bostick yet - will do today.

Any idea where can i get good speaker wire ?

mpw

Hi MPW
I think 14 to 16 AWG is a must for fronts. Its not a good idea to think of using even thinner wires

tonnes of speaker wire out there
you need to decide on a budget first

but before that you need to decide on a power amp ( if you are gonna buy one)
speaker wire will depend on your final system

as dinyaar once said - speaker wire may act as a balm (small extent)

hmm
now that IS more important
i can actually relate since i have an adventurous kid who roams around with a screw driver in my house as well!

Congratulations and enjoy your new speakers. I have heard Paradigm Reference series at Lakozy Mumbai and to me they were a bit forward sounding and absolutely faboulous on the Lows department.

I heard the Signature series I think S-1 with pure Beryllium tweeter. They were amazing. Such tiny SEALED speakers throwing huge sound. Paradigm S-2 is also very good but I think is ported.
S-1 needs atleast 100 watts from a good amplifier to come alive. If one can afford some extra money S-1 will be a very good ultimate speaker. Here it cost about Rs.65,000- I do not know how much it will cost in Delhi. Paradigm gives very good value for money. And very good range. Signature series is their top of the line.

Do call me on 99844094669 for a demo appointment.

the denon stereo amp sounded good with the Atom Monitors when i heard this about 2 weeks back. I found the Denon stereo amp to be fuller than the NAD C355. The NAD sounded bit dry..

Havent heard the 2310 yet..
