This rack is made out of teak wood completely. Weighs a lot and suits my requirements.

Very nice looking rack. Simple and elegant lines.
I also look how the wood grain shows off.

Great job!

Beautiful rack doc, I am also planning to build something similar, will keep the TT on top and pass F5 at the bottom shelf.

Heavy weight of the rack helps to reduce vibrations. Some of my components rest on Vibrapods and Cork pads and the others only on Cork pads. I have used Cork pads under Vibrapods so as to avoid staining the wood polish.

The price should come to about 20,000. I can't say for sure since I got some other items also made along with this rack. A lot depends on the age and quality of teak.

That's a beautiful rack! Clean, strong lines. Sometimes simplicity pays dividends. I scrolled up and admired it about 5 times in between writing this post :)

I've been thinking of getting something similar made, but with 2"x2" posts. Your rack makes me want it more!

Very nice simple wooden rack.
Good news is that your wooden rack wont depreciate its price like the items it carry.

I had designed something similar for my TV some years ago.

This looks like nice work.

Share us some cost details and what kind of wood used etc.

The posts are 2 inch and the shelves are a little less than 1.75 inch thickness in this rack.

It is Burma or CP Teak wood (not sure about the origin). The shelves are made of two wooden planks placed side by side. Polish is natural.

Very classy Shivam, with your permission I am going to copy your design. Love the way you've covered your equipment. Can you share with us, how you got the covers made (or where these part of the equipment packaging)? This is exactly what I need for my new house, with the wood colour finish. Thanks in advance.

Very nice indeed :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Are the shelves intergrated to the posts are resting on pins or angles?

Hi Shivam !
Neat job on the rack - my compliments ! Especially the finish; joints neatly made; no shelf-pins / reapers; wonderfully mitered and jointed. And the grains in the teak are awesome !
The equipment covers are unique - what's the fabric? Where from? Please enlighten.
Regards, Madras Audiophile.

Wow, 1.75-inch solid teak shelves! Even if each is two planks, this is impressive :D

What about where the wood meets the floor? Have you just left it as plain wood or used any rubber?

It's a lovely piece of furniture, and I do believe that these things should look good. I'd much rather live with this than steel/glass.

The fabric is black cotton cloth which my wife forced me to buy from a handlooms outlet. She then herself stitched them double layered. The back is completely open. I just slide them on the top when I don't intend to use the system for a few days. They keep the front, sides and top covered.

My argument against them-
The components get warm and I can't cover them immediately.
Removing and covering them is a big pain.

Her argument -
My way or the highway : Either the covers or no music system, no food, no peace at home.

You can guess who won !
Now I cover them. The top two covers were removed since I wanted to listen to them and then thought of clicking the photos first. So, the remaining two remained covered. I was too lazy to cover the top two components again.
Now she even shows me the covers every now and then to demonstrate how much dust gathers on them. I am inwardly happy but I try to explain to her the static on the cloth and co-relation with black color and dust, and a lot of other stories.

The shelf planks are seated into sockets that were made into the posts. I'll click another photograph showing the fit of the boards into the posts from the top. The base where the wood meets the floor is plain wood. No rubber, plastic or any other material there. They are nicely levelled so that the rack is stable on a flat surface.
