hi friends,

i am planning to buy nad d3020 amp for my q acoustics 2020i speakers for my music through dvd player or from computer or from pen drive..

previously i used it with my friends marantz pm 6004 stereo amp. and happy with its combo..

but now interest to buy other brand..

does anybody has experience with nad d3020? what about its stereo music sound quality?

does anybody compare it with marantz amp?

thank you

You are better off with the Marantz probably. It does most things okay. NADs have a sound signature you'll either like or hate. For me, its the latter. Please audition before any purchase.

An upgrade from the Marantz would probably be an amp in the Exposure/Naim league.

NAD d3020 is a really cutting edge amp. It is one of the new breed of fully digital amps - it is basically a high power output DAC. Its only drawback is the low power output, and your mini monitors go down to 4ohms and are only 88db.

You might be better off with a higher power amp.

I auditioned the d3020 paired with PSB Alpha B2 bookshelf speakers and all I can say is that it was one heck of an audition. If I had the money for building my second setup, I would choose that combo.

Mind you, prior to listening to the d3020, Marantz PM6004 was the most musical amplifier I had auditioned under 50k. But the d3020, despite of its lower power (which doesn't matter to me), poses so many positives such as low on real estate, absolute no heat dissipation, inbuilt bluetooth streaming, etc., trumps as a more convenient living room amplifier. Most importantly, I felt it's imaging with the PSB Alpha B2 was immaculate.

But, as they say, to each his own.
